Am I the only one who absolutely loves the Peacekeeping Forces?

They're my faves too.
Though I was a bit narked when I found out the infantry don't wear bright blue helmets :P

Would love to see an LP as I never got too far into SMAC, mostly due to being bloody useless when it comes to this type of game.
It takes a long, long time to even understand the game fully; and longer to be any good at it ;)

Been playing SMAC for years and I still suck at it!

I haven't played this game in years. Now I want to do so again.

I may be stating the obvious, but of the 7 new factions in Alien Crossfire, there are 3 which pretty much break the game: The two Alien factions and the Nautilus Pirates. The Alien factions speak for themselves, but the Pirates pretty much exist in a world of their own in the early game. By the time most factions finally get sea units, the Pirates have become an unstoppable force on the seas.

University all the way. And since I always seem to park next to the Sister (and they hate our guts), the tech boost is very much appreciated. They maybe hardened, but they can't do anything about chaos guns/fusion lasers.

Miriam should be using her Probe Teams a lot.

And University's weakness happens to be... vs probe teams :D :D

It doesn't matter, as long as I can pump out more probe teams than she does before I can try for the Hunter secret project, I still win.

And since I get free com thing per base, as long as I can rush for the project that turns them all into holo theaters, I won't have to worry about drones. More workers + more manufacturing power = win.

My best SMAC moment was when I had 40 subs all full of planet busters and I elminated every enemy faction in 1 turn. Any cities I missed got orbital dropped. The next turn the water level rose several hundred feet due to "environmental damage".

Wow that would be a sight! Should have kept a savegame from that moment!

The Hive was one of my favourites, as were Gaians for a quick game or Santiago to go on a killing spree. Morgan was quite good, if you managed to bribe war-mongering neighbours not to attack you, and hurry the Hunter-seeker alg to have probe teams madness. Buying whole cities from under their noses kicked ass :D
