Ancestry and Family Surnames

My last name is the German "Voss", but it was corrupted into the more English sounding "Foss" probably by an immigration official. I heard somewhere it can mean "to dig" which kind of fits me.

Get it changed back to Voss, it's just a little paperwork. The ancestors would be proud. :wink:

I wonder if all the Hilters in Germany had their names changed after the war?

Yes they did. There was a show on History about his siblings etc. and all of them changed their names after the war to Hiller (Or something like that)
