Today I read about Two Worlds, a CRPG that "combines the extremely dynamic and sophisticated combat system best known from the top selling “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” with the meaning and freedom of the acclaimed “Fallout“ series". The list of features includes "a freedom of choice unseen in other Role Playing Games", "non-linear storyline", "unique magic system" and just about anything a good fantasy RPG should have.
Now, at first glance this game is everything I dream of. It boasts all the features I want in a CRPG, it has breathtaking visuals and it's PC-only. Normally I'd be ecstatic over an announcement such as this one, but all this crap about "dynamic and sophisticated combat system best known from top selling Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" concerns me, particularly because KotOR combat is neither dynamic nor sophisticated, only crappy.
The press release also contains outright lies such as this one: "For the first time in the history of the genre, the Player is allowed to assemble their own magic spells." This is something anyone who ever played, for instance, Daggerfall can easily disprove.
So what do you people think? Am I a fool for getting my hopes up? Is Two Worlds yet another mediocre vaporware by anonymous developers who want to draw some glances by namedropping Fallout and BioWare games, or a potential CRPG masterpiece?
