Sad fact is that FPS's don't age well at all. They are ment to satisfy mans most primordial instincts, and when we have seen better, we tend to move on.

I know this feeling, rcently I started to play Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy again and I really couldn't feel the same attraction anymore I felt years ago.
I played them but that I can say that I enjoyed it, not really.

It depends what game you are playing.I can still play Blood 2,Return To Castle Wolfenstein,Goldeneye 64,Half Life ....and still have fun !

FPPs are usually about stunning graphicz and cool fysicz, so only the best offer a decent level of entertainment over the years

I myself usually play FPS games, preferably Sci-Fi FPS games for their storylines rather than any multiplayer games.
But once you have finished the main campaign/storyline such a game starts losing its appeal, you can look for all the little things you missed during the game and perhaps finish the game one more time while enjoying the parts you really liked but that is it.

the only reason that's true is because the FPS genre is catered so often towards the "zomg graphics" 360-playing crowd. I personally don't mind playing old FPS games at all, in fact I usually prefer older ones.
