Any decent new single player shooters for PC?

I didn't care for Prey but I tire of the same old formula and similar cliche setting. By the time the real System Shock comes back I hope I even care to enjoy it. Until then I am replaying the old one.

Already suggested Wolfenstein BOA to Atomkilla.

But regarding fps-horror esque shooters on a space station or space ship, yeah I feel the same way (or fps-horror set in a laboratory or bunker).

Sci-Fi themed shooters have been such a disappointment the last couple of years.
I can not say that in the 90s that they were better but they have become more repetitive and weaker in concept and content these days.

To be honest I can not even come up with somewhat original settings/concepts myself any more, my imagination has been so worn down.

The remake of Rise of the Triad seems to be pretty decent.
Also, the Shadow Warrior remake was quite fun.

Wolfenstein The New Order was pretty good, if you hadn't played that. Same for the new DOOM.
If you're up for some multiplayer, Overwatch is pretty fun.

Also, Bioshock Infinite is a bit of a turd.

The new order was good but i'll be damned if Blazkowicz didn't learn to say anything but "I love killing nazis! I'm here to kill nazis! It's kill nazi time".. Yes we get it! You like to kill nazis! Thankfully the old blood was far better when it came to the writing of him.

I was going to say Bioshock 1-2, then I realised they are also on my shitlist because of the recent GTAV mod fiasco.

Fuck.

The Crysis games are pretty damn good, too. Pretty hard on the computer, but the gameplay is great and fluid, and the story is at least original to some degree. And they're fucking gorgeous.
Also, Titanfall 1/2.
Not actually a shooter in the classic sense, but Alien: Isolation is also a bucket of fun.

Crysis can run on a PS3, which in PC terms, is a LOW tier gaming computer. XD

also try crysis warhead, its an open world with quite decent multiplayer and

the crysis 1 on ps3 run on cryengine 3 build, which had some downgrade but with more polished performance...

I mean, my 5 year old non gaming laptop still could run crysis 2...

Graphics isn't as important as gameplay.

I quite liked Crysis 2, it's what Halo could have been.

In Halo I feel like a fucking obsese retard unable to kill anything.

In Crysis you're jumping two stories at a time, running fuckfast, turning invisible at will, and turning on 'fuck bullets' mode.

Try Crysis Warhead, it will still rip&tear even into modern computers. Crysis 2 and 3 are much more optimized and run well on machines that experience FPS dips in Crysis 1.
Anyway, I just wanted to point out that while modern computers can handle Crysis, not everyone has one.

True.

Sad the team isn't making anything good anymore. ;(

Yeah, they kinda fucked up somewhere along the road. Too bad, german (AAA) video game developers are rare these days, and one can't deny that CryEngine is one of the most capable graphic engines on the market.

Hard to say, depends on what you want to make I guess?

The engine Croteam uses in Serious Sam 3 seems to be something perfect for games with fucktons of enemies (I wish Doom 4 used it).

Conversely...I think Cryengine is a great engine, but its very demanding, which makes it hard to use if you're an average joe without a 4k dollar computer. XD

Of course, on actual settings (AKA, not ultra), it can run on a LOT more stuff.

Best engine is the original Doom engine~

Just... Make up your mind, will ya?

Also, best engine is Quake 2.

XD

Honestly my favourite engine, in part of its versatility, is Unity, even with how shit it is.

And as some people said, the PS3 versions are running on shittier graphics compared to PC ultra.

depends really, the new prey for example is running on the newest iteration of cryengine (aka cryengine v though the crytek prefer to call it simply as cryengine), yet it run better than beta version of kingdomcome deliverance (which is running on cryengine 3)

Indeed.

Game optimization is key.
