Any other PC games from pre 2000 that would interest me?

Man, why is all the good stuff in the past?

Shouldn't the future have been like the continuation of the good stuff, games that add and expand and not just repeat?

some net yet named before:

Dark Reign 1, one of the first RTS games with really different factions and artillery that actually shot fuckall far away (3 screens away, i think). great voice art too.

Ground Control 1 (+exp) was awesome (spring 2000 iirc). squad based RTS.

Half-Life 1 and OpFor exp. a shitload better in it's day than HL2 was imo...

I'm fucking surprised someone other than me played Dark Reign. I have never heard of someone mention it before. I love that game. Especially the Snipers that can transform into trees :D !
I recently replayed Halflife 1, OP Force, and the Halflife 2 series, but I don't have Blue SAhift. I heard it sucked anyway. Any opinion?

for me it was the voice taunts, the difference between units and lining up 6 Hellstorm artillery units & one scout (muhahahaha).

not to mention: "RICHTER: SEVEN POINT FIVE!"

blue shift was moneygrubbing bullshit. you'll play through it in no fucking time. and it's pure (badly) recycled shit. don't bother.

I now have half life, and icewind dale+heart of winter expansion. Havent played icewind dale yet, just got done installing everything.

Dark Reign for teh win. Right up there with Dark Colony for underated games and also games that begin with Dark.
:P

Wouldn't say Blue Shift was completely rubbish, it was fun pretending to be Barney, nowhere near as good as OpForce though which I prefer to Half Life :D

Hmm other good pre 2k games... well pretty much every game made by Bullfrog or the Lucasarts adventure games division.

The shredders were cool too. Make a bunch of those fuckers and they would tear through infantry like crazy.
Yeah I heard as much about Blue Shift. Op Force was kicking my ass the other day though! Those damn Black ninja bitches were fast as fuck. I like Op Force so much better than the original though. Except for the dumbass squad AI. But that's to be expected I guess.

Those damn ostrich things and their "EEE-YEEEEESSS!??" freaked me out, oh, and the Imperial floating tanks that would say "Tumbertain".

don't remember that... (i was more of a freedom guard man anyway)

that said, if anyone knows where i could find those ripped sounds, i'd be forever in your debt. :)

dark reign + ex pack and DR 2 are the reason i never played starcraft.

no game can compete with how solid it is.

i still have all 3 cds.

Ah nostalgia, yes Dark Reign was awesome. We played it mostly multi after school and what a fun experience it was. Hehe and yes I think no one forgets freedom guards shock wave tank. Personally I played Imperium and they had some unique units, the shredder unit and the one that captures enemy infantry straps on them high explosives and spits them out.

But honestly Dark Sun 1-2 is a must play, for any rpg fan. Id add in Stradhas Possesion and Stone Prophet.

Technically not pre 2000 I still think you might enjoy

Baldur's Gate 2 along with its expansion Throne of Bhaal
Icewind Dale 1+ 2 and the expansions to Icewind Dale

Might and Magic 4-7 (or there abouts) I think you can get these in the Millenium Edition ?

I haven't played them but many people seem to enjoy playing Ultima 4 or 5 or Wizardry games.

Of course these are all rpg games.

If you like adventure games, you might try The Longest Journey or the Tex Murphy series or the Gabriel Knight series.

I would recommend open source clone of transport tycoon deluxe. I got totally hooked for about 2 months around last christmas. It has hundreds of improvements to the original chris sawyer transport tycoon deluxe from 1994, most significant being online play, although thanks to many other small improvements it's much more pleasant to play nowadays.
