Anyone here weightlift?

Temoid, I'd like to know some info or tips if you have any, that's why I started the thread.

Wooz: Yeah, in order to gain muscle you have to eat more calories and protein. That creates muscle mass. Eating less and working more only burns calories.

The best way to overall strength in my opinion is to find different ways to work out the same muscles and rotate those exercises.

Don't always do a bench-press. Do some chest flys with dumbells, or an inclined dumbell press. They work basically the same muscle but in different motions and so generate more overall power for all your lifting.

Yeah...if you're going to work out chest, you'll minimally want to do Bench Press, Incline Press, and Flys. They each work different sections of your chest, in addition to other muscles. For biceps, the usual routine would be something like regular freeweight curls, preacher curls, iso's, and hammer curls. Stuff like that

Mad Dog, if you have any questions or anything you'd like to know, go ahead and ask. I'll be more than happy to help you out.

Also, who could have guessed that the fitness geeks (or rather, attempted fitness geeks;)) would surface on an RPG geek forum?

It's the same kind of people that claims to have "girlfriends", "lives" and stuff like that.

I spar with a quarter staff or a wooden sword.

Does that count?

(bows graciously)

Yes good Sir that does indeed classify you if I dont say so myself. I mean there are differences. Some dress up for fun (cosplay). Some spend countless hours and effort making authentic equipment and hold medieval re-enactment. Others even use it for live action rpg'ing (LARP).

Sincerely,

P.S.

Thanks KQX. I really got to thinking about it and around the time I started exercising I decided to do a certain amount. I would get sore the next day, but over months my muscles grew. After a while they stopped hurting from the same workout, but I didnt try to use more weight or exercise longer and I stopped gaining muscle. Really I had just become so accustomed to one routine I really didn't want to try hard. I did start again today, by doing five more repititions each exercise in my sets and I'm sure to not feel good tomorrow.
