B O O K Q U O T E S

I don't think this has staying power.

How about we just post our favorite literary passages, instead?

I read, but not enough to participate in this kind of a game.

Whilst a lot of us, including myself, are well read individuals, our tastes differ, and I bet a lot of our favorite books are completely different.

Oh but we all have the same tastes in movies? Haha, admit it Malky, you're just pissed because there isn't an ibdb. :)

No, Malkavian is right. I've read alot of books in my relitively short time reading things outside of McDonalds due to dyslexia, but, for instance, your quote reads exactly like a line from a Dave Eggers short story about a dead dog (that's really good, Dave Eggers is the last great postmodern writer). But I doubt that's what it's from .

Face it, there are alot more Books, and tastes in books differ alot more then movies here, as this is not a forum about anything pertaining to books, while Fallout has alot to do with movies.

Firstly, it's the IMDB. Secondly, I have a vast knowledge of film (though, not as obscure as some of us). Thirdly, I don't use IMDB. Unless someone posts something terribly hard. :P

Also - I'm sure there's some literature database somewhere. If there isn't, someone should create one.

First off...I said ibdb(internet BOOK database)

second off...no CCR, you're wrong...

third...ok new rule, you must give hints, actual, helping hints ok...here is mine, it's about a battle before the rise of Rome.

fourth...you're all a bunch of whining jerk-offs :)

I read more than anyone i know (which doesn't really say much) but it would be impossible to know direct quotes from books. It might help if you make the quote a lot bigger than you would normally make a movie quote. This might 'help' but i don't think anything will help enough to get this going like the movie quote thread.

All the above people are right. Books have...quite a lot of text in them, and there are a lot of books with a lot of similar passages and finally there are a lot more books than there are films. And that's just limiting it to books as in "novels", if you expand...eegh

So sorry, but this won't work.

I'm with el Prez and Kharn, I think you'll need at least a paragraph of writing to have any hope of this working. Spoken lines from movies are fairly easy to remember, but a single line of text, unless it's extremely memorable and well-known, isn't going to ring bells for anyone. For example; I've read every Vonnegut book about 10 times, but there's very little chance of me identifying a single line from any book isolated from the surrounding lines. It's a different dynamic at work, and, as has been said before, people's taste in books are a lot more individual than taste in movies.

Damnit, y'all are no fun! FINE jerk-offs! It's "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield.

*walks away mumbling*

HAH!!! I know the quote... it's "Gates of Fire" By steven Pressfield.

okay... now for my quote...

"Blah blah blah... blah blah blah blah... BLAH BLAH blah.."

"Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield?
Who cares?

This game won't work. And look at the quote:
I have always wondered what it was like to die.

There's probably a thousand different books that contain such a phrase. You need mpre text, but: forget it, since there are so many books...

Stupid thread.

Stupid stupid thread.

Paladin Solo is soooooooooo stupid.
