best post- apoc movie

I'd go with Mad Max 2.

I also loved Waterworld and Planet of the Apes.

Dove: Screamers does deserve a mention, it was actually on the Sci-Fi channel about two weeks ago.

Nobody mentioned "Cyborg" starring the king of crappy action movies Jean Claude VanDamme.

I'll go for the original The Time Machine by George Pal. God, I love that movie. It isn't your usual post-apoc flick, but there is a nuclear attack in the film and it is, among other things, about life after that massacre. Yeah, this is my all time favourite movie, actually. I have it on video and dvd and TCM plays it at least once each year.

Other good post-apoc movies? Planet Of The Apes, of course, but only the original (the remake is too... clean). I also saw 28 Days Later, but it was a German version, so I really didn't understand any of the dialogues. Some of the scenes were brilliant, though, like deserted London.

"Screamers" would be an honorable mention, but it was sci-fi and the planet they were on that got destoyed wasn't Earth... So it doesn't quite fit in.

Actually, it *was* (rather loosely) based on the story "Second Variety" by P.K. Dick, which is verili post-apoc and is set on post-WWIII Earth.

BTW: Just to make you laugh... In Poland this flick was distributed under the title "The Secret of Sirius". Pretty weird , innit? :D

THe postman was good for a psot-appoc movie, and the mad max movies own (but theyre never on here)

It'd be sweet if some one would make a post appoc movie that was a ripoff of fallout, like having some kind of power armour and such.

EDIT

And there was this one movie about the russians invading the west coast and some highschoool kids with their fathers hunting riffles forming a gurrelia movement aginst them until th army reacaptures their area.

I froget the name, and while it isnt exactly post-appoc, its still pretty good.

Red Dawn. Terrific movie, the only Patrick Swayze movie I liked.

There are a few post apocalyptic movies that I like:
* 12 Monkeys
* Planet of the Apes (original)
* Terminator 2 (kind of post apocalyptic)
* Waterworld
* Blade Runner

Yub yub.

- Soylent Green
- 2019-After the fall of New York. A rip off of Escape from New York maybe but a decent rip off non the less.
- 28 days later
- Planet of the Apes
- And Mad Max 2 The road warrior of course which would have to be my favourite.

Soylent Green is not a PA movie. The problem in that movie is that the cities are crowed. Too much people for the food reserve. In the end we can see how much control the government has over society.

The other movies are great. The Road warrior in first place. Another movie about PA that scared me when I was young was "The day After". That movie made the nuclear nightmare real and close to me.

Actully the first Mad Max movie was an educationell movie made so people would see how terrible road accidents are. Just so happens this movie became sorta of a success so they made 2 more.

The whole post apocalyptic thingy wasnt really thought about there since it wasnt a real motion picture.

Damn I thought this was the Disney Forums, sorry guys.
...

You'd think certain things would give someone a clue about what type of forum this is....especially when comparing it to Disney forums....

ahem, though donnie darko is one of my all time favourites, its not slightly related her...em, sorry-but no.

and why does everyone keep saying they like mad max2, AND they like road warrior?? they are the same...

in my opnion there was never a really good post apoc movies, the only close ones are the mad maxes..most of the others you said are good too, but they don't remind me of fallout.

12 Monkeys were perfect...

I found even a Postman as a very good one...

and 28 days later and the night of living death :wink:

...oh... and someone might also call Fight Club good apoc movie... and I agree :wink:

Judging from your nick, I suppose you'd call "Fight Club" a good spaghetti western just for the sake of calling it good. :) Besides , we're talikng post-apoc not apoc as such, and blowing up a few skyscrapers can't be considered that genre ;)
