Best/worst voice actor

I believe it starts around the 34 minute mark. They actually called FO4's dialogue better than FO1's which is hilarious in itself.

It's even worse than that. They literally said, "Obviously, they did a little bit more work with the player dialogue in Fallout 4" and mocked "Oh, thanks. Can I ask a few more questions?" as a specific example that FO4 supposedly improves on. I'll give Delaney some credit for at least pointing out that FO4 used "I'm sorry, what was that again?" plenty of times, which is easily just as awkward.

Completeley silent.

Can we have a sensible answer that is realistic regarding Bethesda?

I was actually originally going to ask "What should they have sounded like? Don't answer silent" because some things are just beyond reality in the hands of Bethesda Softworks.

So, please. What should they have sounded like, as VOICED protagonists?

Bethesda had silent protagonists for most of their games, No idea why I have to NOW conform to voiced ones, I rather have them silent, no idea why it's so unrealistic considering the response of the public and the fact that making a silent protagonist actually costs them LESS money.

So my answer is the same, they should be silent.

Alright, so if the Sole Survivors as we know in Fallout 4 were NPCs, how should they have sounded like? How would either a pre-war veteran or lawyer with a desire for revenge and strong family ties have sounded like, if they were companions, for example?

No idea, depends on the personality of the NPC, their age, their backstory. Certainly Brian Delaney wouldn't be my first pick, dude sounds like a dollar store Troy Baker.

My guess is they did some focus testing with target groups and the marketers said the kids wanted voice acting because reading lines is "dumb" and "ancient." Which would be amusing considering how ancient the game engine and character animations are.

I've yet to see a series that was improved by the move from a silent protagonist with a dialogue LIST to a dialogue wheel with a voiced protagonist (DA: Origins to DA:2).

The protagonist would have been much more entertaining if they had selected R. Lee Ermey as the voice actor.

The male protagonist's horrid voice, coupled with his ridiculous facial animations, made every instance of dying and watching him ragdoll an absolute joy.

Dying in a Bethesda game can never be a joy. Especially when you consider there's like a 50-50 chance of crashing when you attempt to load last save, and even if you don't crash the load times are horrendous.

The entire reason I don't save scum in Elder Scrolls is simply because I literally can't - save and reload too many times, and you break and corrupt everything. It's ridiculous.

Well, the good thing is that Bethesda are somewhat self-aware that they can't program shit, so the default setting for autosaves is basically all the fucking time, even when you use the Pipboy.

Remember, every minute spent loading or crashing to desktop is a minute you don't have to spend actually playing Fallout 4.

That actually makes it even worse. Bethesda games overwrite the same save file again and again (for no apparent reason, the new Shadowruns do it to allow reloading an earlier save in the same file) which causes bloating and eventually corruption. The fact that both their crashes and their implemented "failsafe" for said crashes both corrupt save games and that they still aren't considering changing the engine is beyond reason.

There is a reason why CASM for New Vegas actually disabled Auto saves and the vanilla quick saving. They should probably implement that mod in their games...

Building awesome turrets and having kickass Vertibirds takes priority, y'know. Who cares about things like characterisation and writing, or engine optimisation when you can put longer barrels on your minigun? Yeeeeaaaahhhh.
