Bit-tech plays Fallout 3

My original point was that one of the things that Fallout is applauded for, one of the things the genre used to be built on is now being described as a hidden flaw. Yes not all crpg games before or after Fallout had the same level of choice and consequences, stop and think for a moment, perhaps that's why Fallout is held in such high regard by many? Don't you think?

And perhaps it was the post apoch setting, or the use of humor or the really spiffy weapons. I think Fallout was a number of things to people. And trying to say that the only reason it was a great game was due to the choice/consequence thing is being narrow minded. It was part of the game, but not the defining part, in my opinion.

And if Fallout is so applauded for it, then it really can't be the typical aspect of the RPG genre then can it? If the choice thing were a defining part of the RPG genre (which based on the discussion it seems was only about 5 games) then why would they make a big deal out of it? Truth be told it is an uncommon element of todays RPG market.

Fallout 3 however has a slightly different ethic and has spun this round somewhat because there’s a hidden flaw wrapped in the model of the previous games – that the player doesn’t always know how their options are being trimmed, their choices culled. You might miss out on important quests and information without knowing it, so as well as extending development time by factoring in all this redundant content, you can leave players feeling falsely trapped or locked into a game they don’t want to play.
They didn't really print that did they? Someone give me a massive facepalm post.

i lolled so hard when i red that piece of shit lol

isn't the game reacting to your choices a ! ! !GOOD! ! ! thing ?
