Blade Runner fans! Deckard's blaster!

Gunslinger

Mildly Dipped
For you diehard fans of Blade Runner (fans of Fallout will recall the ".223 pistol"):

http://www.hartford.co.jp/2019/index.htm

That's right, for the meager amount of 59,800 Yen, you can obtain an airsoft version of this badass looking gun. My mouth is a'dribble with drool. The detail is precise: bolt action, five shells for bb's, dual (count 'em, 2 ) triggers. It even says "Stayr Mennlicher .222" on its barrel (too bad they spelled Steyr and Mannlicher wrong).

As I don't read Japanese, I have no clue how it operates. But since its an airsoft pistol, I think it's safe to assume it uses green gas like most other pistols. The gun is loaded via internal magazine by slipping the five shells underneath the barrel. A revolver-chamber design is said to be later implemented.

All I can say is: "I want."

I`ve seen all the versions of the movie (a new one seems to be appearing soon), several times, read the androids book, several times, and played the game, many many times.

Does that make me a hardcore fan? :D

It`s a nice link, thanks Gameshark, now how about that scan of Computer Games?...

Hey, I'm a kid whose just spent over half a grand on a fake gun. I'll use my cousin's scanner for the article. I'll get around to it...eventually.

That is probably my favorite sci-fi movie, excepting of course the Road Warrior.
And that book kix mucho ass. I mean come on. It's awesome.
What's this about a new version?

I still only know the rumours that the dvd-box set that is coming will feature both versions on the film, a disc with extras and a misterious fourth disc...

We`ll have to wait and see if it`s a new version or not.

I just love it when they use only half the space on a DVD so they can make a multiple-DVD edition.

Take the new LotR TTT 5-DVD box set that's being released over here...What the crap? 5 DVDs? 2 for the movie? Which isn't even quality encroyable (like Superbit)...

Oh well, it's cheaper, like Warner Bros' double-sided DVDs.

Never buy from Warner Bros. (including Bladerunner), they're constantly trying to screw you over. Same goes for Disney (which is owned by AOL Time Warner, 'course), 'cept that they're worse.

Universal is pretty bad too. Columbia Tristar is better. Europe/Holland has some seriously good DVD distributors, like RCV (best EVAH. Germany-based. Everything is high quality, and fantastic titles. They've got GonY, Chicago and Frida coming up, not to mention they have all Tarantino films etc. etc.), Dutch FilmWorks, AFilm and to a lesser extent Bridge and Indies.

Sweet shit that would kick ass. I'm definitely buying that.
Depressingly, Titanic and The Lion King will probably have a total revenue greater than all of the Philip K. Dick adaptations ever.
Btw, did you hear about Paycheck, which was another of his stories?
Apparently its going to suck, an account of John Woo is directing and Ben Affleck is starring.
Hollywood did good with minority report but paycheck is gonna be a steaming pile.

Wow wow wow wait a second, John Woo is directing?? But that`s fantastic news, even with the Affleck creature in the mix...

Uma is in it.

And I don't think John Woo's directing is a stamp of "this will be good", but it's not a terrible sign either.

Interesting thread about it on Imdb over at http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0338337/board/nest/2536802

I can't think of any good movie that Ben Affleck has been in, or one that John Woo has directed that has been anything more than pointless special effects. It was seriously one of PKD's better short stories, but its looking like Minority Report w/ geek instead of cop.
Paycheck was a lot better of a story, but John Woo and Ben Affleck are outacted and outdirected when compared w/ Steven SpielBerg and Tom Cruise.

You haven`t seen the Hong Kong movies from him, have you?
But i agree on Affleck, he`s one of the less resourcefull or even interesting actors that showed up from the 90`s.

Oh, is that so? Well what about "Good Will Hunting", eh? I agree that Ben Affleck doesn't play a major part in it, but "Good Will Hunting" is a very good movie. In fact, every movie in which Minnie Driver plays a role is a very good movie - and you can quote me on that.

Oh boy, Minnie Driver...

*drools*

Oh yeah, before I forget: cool gun, but it's just a replica, isn't it? Being who I am, I got the original. I keep it in the fridge.

It's a replica formed closely to the model used in the actual film. I read it off an airsoft news site so it's bb gun. Unfortunately, they're only shipping to folks inside Japan.

...

1) Spielberg really, really sucks. He's a technically proficient director, but he lacks ALL soul. He's like a big cash machine.

2) Cruise is possible one of the most annoying and over-rated actors ever. He's had a few good roles (say...Jeryy McGuire was funny), but he generally really, really sucks.

3) John Woo = the man. His old movies are the top. Don't make me go Chow-Yun on your ass. (yeah, dual 9mm pistols = the shit)

4) Ben Affleck is a good actor, though he lacks some experience. He's also a good writer and has a reasonable nose for movies. I think the Bennifer-movies place him lower on the bar, and I'm not a great fan of him 'cause "he does Kevin Smith films so he's really underground LOL!", but he's certainly not a bad actor. He does lack some diversity, though. However, Tom Cruise wouldn't even know was diversity IS.

I wish that everything I said was right 100% no-possible-way-it-could-be-different ever amen thank you and goodnight I'll be here all week.

IMHO, they both suck, but Cruise is a better actor than Affleck, and Speilberg better than Woo.
I'd rather watch Born on the Fourth of July or Rain Man than Good Will Hunting or Shakespeare in Love, and I'd rather watch Minority Report or Schindler's List than Face/Off or Windtalkers.
In fairness, I haven't seen any of Woo's Chinese productions, so I can't pass judgement on them.
The only one of those films I'd ever really want to watch is Minority Report because Philip is teh shit.

$501 for that weapon? Gatdamn a bit to much for me, but it looks damn good!

Mohrg
