Blizzard Calls DRM a “Losing Battle”

What is it missing that you'd like to be in D2?

An actual organized browser to sort and locate games with. Something like what you see in Valve MP games when searching for a server, instead of that horrible random piece of shit list that's currently in D2.

They have always had servers in different regions, do they no longer give you the option of which server to connect to?

There will be a region lock in place, similar to WoWs. The only way to play on another region will be to buy a copy of the game for that region.

how you describe it now it starts to make sense for me why Blizzard/activision do it that way ...

It's a clear step backwards though, since all their previous Bnet games had the option of choosing/switching regions in game.

Oh yeah... I remember SC having the bars which changed color as there were less of them to represent latency, I'd forgotten that D2 didn't have that... That said, I'm pretty sure that you could check their ping in game (not preferable, I know). I remember plenty of lag now that I think of it.

If the lock South America out of North America then I'm all for it, fucking hate dealing with Brazilians. That honestly doesn't really bother me as it keeps latencies reasonable (which is a good reason to do so) but I agree that it's pretty dumb to lock people out rather than have it be enforced by the players, especially with the elimination of TCP/IP and LAN. If they still had TCP/IP then I wouldn't see really any reason for people to complain as people could still play with people they know in different regions and the only people who'd really have a problem are people living in regions in which they don't speak the language (who I'm not overly sympathetic to).

It's not that, it's the fact that there is only a tiny list of games to browse, which is constantly being refreshed with new games. Once the game is knocked off the list it is only refreshed if someone else joins. There needs to be one solid consistent list of games that you can apply filters to.

Yeah, the server browsing has always been crap and it sounds to me like they have improved that, though we'll see. I could understand it up until WC3 but by the time it was released, they really should have updated it. I haven't played that many RTSs online so I have no clue how it compares and that may be why they change it to be better and more like FPSs.
