Blue Velvet – Fallout 1 into Fallout 2

That´s why I want to see the blueish walls just in the real underground areas, it´s a lot more natural i think..

Some of the Californian rocks may be blue. Even the famous Red Rock canyon. Smile

That's very beautiful! I had always thought the original dev team had made the blue wall to fit with the "comics" graphical design, but they might have the blue cliffs in mind! :D

What are people's thoughts on the reverse? Using the grey cave tileset from Fallout 2, in a Fallout 1 mod?

It could be interesting. I am not saying I would like it, since Fallout 1 kinda is sacred for me, but I 'd like to see it. But if you can, make it an option!

I actually like the original blue look over the more natural brown look...it plays into the exaggerated "comic" aesthetic of the original game IMO. That's not to say I don't like the brown tone...it will be a very simple procedure.

Find the various artworks in the Fallout 2 Art/scenery/wall/tile folders (you will need to UN-DAT the master DAT file to access these).

Make the same folders in the Fallout 1 - data/art folder and just copy them into it...screw it - here it is. Fallout 2 Brown Artwork. Just paste into the Fallout 1 - data - art folder. I haven't tested it...but it should work OK.

EDIT: I checked it and one of the wall pieces frame offset position is too high, so that individual piece will need to be found and lowered in the Frame Animator (+24y)...goodluck. :P

BoS elevator and some wall parts in the masters vault should be still blue then. They never got edited in Fallout 2, because they were unused.

I don't see why there's a problem with "rusty walls in a blue cave". Don't you remember Vault 15 from Fallout 1? Here's a pic of the entrance http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/File:Fo1_Vault_15_Entrance.png
I can't remember anyone saying anything bad about that design decision and I'm talking about 1997 til today.

As far as the art direction is concerned FO1 beats FO2 since L. Boyarsky was at the helm of the art direction and he's the man that "gets it". That's how I see it at least.
