There are no social functions for marriage any more, only financial ones. Marriage is only moderately more difficult to extricate oneself from than a long term relationship. Excluding, obviously, when there are children involved, but there are plenty of laws regarding maintenance (etc.) for bastards (literal sense, people!).
My answer to this poll was "Who gives a rats ass!", because I don't see a great deal of purpose in marriage these days, other than what you bring into it. I don't begrudge anyone, regardless of preference, any pleasure they derive from being married, but I don't see the point.
