Chinese Remnants HUH?

BR4ZIL

Still Mildly Glowing
ok so i recently replayed F3, last time i just did megaton and some other quests and then my HDD crashed, anyway this time i explored and found the ghouls called chinese ramnants and i was like WTF!?, first why they are still fighting for a lost cause after 200 years?? and why you cant (no matter what) speak with them?

I was already dissapointed by the game knew that there were a ALOT of inconsistencies in F3 but this one doesnt seems to have been discussed.

i would like to know what you guys think.

btw if more things like this come up i will probably ditch the game :x

Its the cool factor of implementing stuff, its cool so put it in no matter the logic. I overlooked those inconsistencies in hope that at least the main story, quests and exploration will be fun despite them but no luck there.

The game is filled with things like that, my advice if so far youre enjoying your time with the game just ignore them and keep playing, but if your brain is constantly screaming "THIS HAVE NO GOD DAMN SENSE" its a good sign to stop playing.

ok, after doing more side quests (vampire quest, argh) i decided to continue with the main quest, went to vault 87 to get the GECK, in the middle of it i just quit playing, and deleted the game.

i dunno if i was doing this thing in a wrong way, because i was playing with a diplomatic character, but that part simply fails, no option to talk with the mutants or something.

UFOs, Deathclaws, plasma rifles, mininukes. Sense.

It's a computer game, not math.
:seriouslyno:

everything can make sence if you do a good explanation, in which F3 fails, it might be just me but i cant play like that. So i will take marko2te's advice and quit playing.

and UFOs EXIST  heheheh

After 200 years of ghoulification and relative isolation in hostile territory I'd say they've gone batshit crazy like every other "feral" ghoul. Here's a good question: what where the Commies doing all the way over in D.C.? Didn't we oust them in Alaska (right before the bombs fell) before they got anywhere near that far?

EDIT: Mothership Zeta and the whole UFOs and little green men and giant death rays thing was Beth taking a little joke started back in the first Fallout too fucking seriously. Admittedly there was PROBABLY plenty of pulp and probably radio/TV programming that played around with the whole "invaders from Planet X" schtick, but COME ON.

hmm to aswer your question, i think fallout wiki says the chinese had a secret base in DC ( called mama's dolce or something), but its still weird that they had a whole garrison there.
What i really couldnt get it is why they are hostile? i mean after 200 years they could either have turned ferals, get exterminated by raiders/mutants or they could have formed a ghoul/chinese town (which could have been much more interesting)

i guess there is no aswer for that :| , so its just to look "COOL"

to exemplify the alien references

F1 = alien crash site + alien dead body in the Glow
F2 = alien bodies in Sierra Army base (if there is more i dont remember)
F3 = OMG LETS PUT REAL ALIENS IN THE GAME WITH LAZOR WEAPONS!!!!11

so yeah they went a bit too far, although Mothership Zeta doesnt look that bad compared to other things in the game (i dont have the DLC, just looked at some screenshots)

So you would think that laser swords in a Lord of the Rings game would make sense and fit perfectly the setting cause its a game.

It's called "special forces infiltrating enemy territory".

Yeah, if you took a few minutes to read you'd know that Momma Dolce's was a secret Chinese HQ. L.O.B. Enterprise had Chinese people secretly developing that handgun that shot flaming bullets.

I know its off topic, but that sounds completely redundant. Flames would be smothered on impact, assuming they weren't extinguished in flight and the last thing i want to do to someone im trying to kill is cauterize a bleeding gunshot for them.

It does not fire flaming bullets, it fires a super-heated bullet that sets the target on fire.

Well within SCIENCE!.

Just like Blood's flare gun

I dunno if that was for me but if thats the case, it still doenst explain why the hell they are still fighting after 200 years , if take you san francisco from F2, those people originally came from a chinese nuclear submarine, building a society after noticing that the war is over, it makes sence, now in F3 the chinese remnants are "stuck in time" thinking they are still fighting a war (ghoulification is not a explanation here, since they are still sane and even keep their military hierarchy).

The way i see is that this whole chinese remnants thing was left unfinished for some reason (lack of time, maybe)

Key difference: SF Chinese people are the sixth generation since the war, assimilated into the new reality.

Ghouls in DC are pre-war spec ops, hardcore military men ready to commit terrorist attacks against a civilian populace. It's no wonder they didn't change much in 200 years, they are indoctrinated too much.

On a side note, Chinese ghouls in control of DC in Fo3 would've been a much better plot (well, any plot would be better than Fo3's tripe).

Yes but I have to agree after 200 years ... dunno talking about diversity. Would have been nice to see here more in to it.

That`s a very good idea. It`s a pity that it wasn`t used.

lol 200 years of indoctrination, well i do agree with you in that point but the chances of those chinese remnants to be still alive after 200 years if they followed this mentality could be pretty much zero (no counting the fact that they cant reproduce).
