This is a thread for people to share, listen to and discuss classic Chiptunes (8 bits era music). I would prefer not to have modern chiptunes around (music made with 8 bit sounds, but from games not made to be played in 8 bit hardware). I thought of making this also for 16 bit music, but the quality is too different from each other, so I would like this one to be for 8 bit only. I am making this thread because I haven't made any new thread around here in ages. I am also curious to know NMAers tastes and also to share with younger people that never heard classic chiptunes. We are limited to only post 5 "Media" files in one post, so I will try to post some from the games I owned with my NES back in the day: Spoiler: Spoiler to (hopefully) make the page load faster "Super Mario" Theme: "Castlevania" Stage 1: "Faxanadu" Overworld Theme: "Top Gun 2" Theme: "Sid Meier's Pirates" Theme: If this thread gets any attention and people start posting in here, I will add more chiptunes later. If not, then it will be another thread that will fall into obscurity.
At some point I actually thought about doing a cover of some of these tunes with a friend. Some of them could be pretty chill stuff to listen to. Other could be pretty good riffs for rock/metal stuff.
Was that the TMNT game with sidescroll parts and a "kinda topdown isometric" city part? I can never remember which TMNT NES game that was. And yeah, some of those tracks are quite nice, I bet they would sound awesome using real instruments.
It's this one. The whole game has an isometric view. Sidescroller sure, but not your typical camera position. The city part starts around 21st minute, so check it out.
It's not that one, I just did a google search and found out it's the first TMNT for NES: Spoiler: Spoiler to (hopefully) make the page load faster It starts with the city "top down isometric" map I meant, and then goes to the sidescroller part.
One of the funniest thing from my childhood. Most of the NES games were only in Japanese. So I did not understand stories while I played in them - nor JP or Moon Crystal. But anyway I like them very much and still sometimes playing. Spoiler: Some of them
Thanks to everyone who is posting, this is really a trip down memory lane . I am here to share some more chiptune goodness: Spoiler: Spoiler to (hopefully) make the page load faster
I never played Adventures of Lolo. I have the feeling I would suck at it . Spoiler: Spoiler to (hopefully) make the page load faster
I was here thinking of the old games I used to play as a kid. And then it hit me... The ZX Spectrum I had was also a 8 bits machine. So here are some tunes from ZX Spectrum games I used to play: Spoiler: Spoiler for (hopefully) loading the page faster
