Chris Taylor "Geek of the Week" Q&A

I'm with you, Surf Solar. Never liked those monochromatic indexes, which they've called inventory in Fo3. I'm used to the visualized items in BIS Fallout's inventory screens.

And what it that it was so bad? They added mousescrolling in FO2 too which was the only annoying thing for me in FO. Or are they not "immersive" enough, ike this mess of a cluttered and clunky interface from Boreout 3 or Yawn Vegas?

The Boreout 3 and Yawn Vegas comments are juvenile at best.

Surf I know you hate New Vegas, but it isn't that bad man.

I prefer a combination of both. Mods helped me with that problem. :)

Not even mentioning that it takes too many clicks to reach informations or lists that could be viewed in Fo1/2 with one single click. Or hiding informations from the player etc. Those systems were simply a clusterfuck.

The item images in the original Fallouts were nice. But holy fuck, add some item categories. Overall, I'd have to give it up to F3/NV for the convenience, but it's somewhat unfair to compare that aspect of the two games due to the difference in technology and budgets.
Remember playing fiddlesticks with Maria of Damian in Modoc then having to pick your shit off the ground one item at a time? That was so much fun. Afterwords, I had to go outside and re-cripple the cow with my fists to wind me down from my kneel-to-the-ground-workout.

Tactics offered a nice improvement in terms of inventory management, if I recall correctly, with categories and such.

yes, Tactics iinvetory was an improvement , with a category for every type of weapon and item. much easier to find something in there.

Now, for some inside dirt, I actually did a treatment a few years ago for inXile for a Wasteland 2 (along with Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky). Leonard did this concept art of a mutant dog riding a human that I will always treasure. (And an armed Nun that you would not want to run into in the middle of the night.) It was a fun pitch to make even if it didn't go anywhere.

I would love to see the concept art Boyarsky did.

Solo board game could be a more infecting computer game pitch than any power point presentation.

Branching paths, C + C, resource management, megalomanic ego nurturing and re booting THE LAW OF THE SEA, Nemo's War has potential!
