2. I suggested a game where, game-play-wise, you play against all odds: To withstand invasions that, per recorded history, ended in most of Africa being colonized. When I play WW2 games, I tend to play as Norway, trying to withstand German advances. What, is that lame of me? Should I prefer playing as Germany?

No my reponse that it was boring and lame to do the same dime a dozen story thats been told over and over again and this hypothetical ROLE PLAYING GAME should allow you to play and explore both sides instead of being a generic shooter where you play as definite good native guys against definite bad colonial White guys in a linear story. We're talking about an RPG with choice and whatnot, not Fallout V

But back to the actual thread, I'd like to see an RPG in a new setting. Fantasy is over done at this point, and sci-fi hasn't been going anywhere. There's a ton of Chinese/Japanese mythology, so colonial Africa could be a good place.

Abyssinia was supported by Russia, France and Britain, it was hardly an "against all odds" scenario. What is against all odds is Italy actually winning a war.

A Boer war RPG would be far more interesting in that regard.

You said that you wanted a game where you play against all odds - playing as a country which has the support of the most powerful nations in the world and outnumbers its enemy ten to one isn't that. Sorry to ruin your fantasy about whitey getting btfo against all odds.

I interpreted the underlined "as" as you suggesting that we play as Ethiopia.

 

And why would I be wanting to play an Africa game exclusively as Ethiopia, and expressedly NOT as ANY of the other countries?

Explanation time:
The other countries lost, not because of their blackness, but because of inadequate weaponry against superior technology.
In other words: No support from countries WITH superior technology.

Just like Norway falling to Germany having nothing to do with OUR blackness, since we are actually WHITE losing to other WHITE. We lacked something. We lacked numbers, and technology.

This is what makes strategy interesting to explore. In an "Africa game" I would play as Zululand, against Britain, with spears and cow-skin shields, and LOSE, because it would be a simulation of reality. I can't count on race to win. I need to count on technology, which I would gain - for example - through diplomacy.
See? For a "SJW" I actually concede that I would have to contant someone white (power!) in order to win.

Does that make you happy?
