Concerning Fallout Boy/Vault Boy

I have been thinking an awful lot about Fallout Boy lately. Or, as some of you like to call him, Vault Boy. I'm planning on doing something with the character (comic-wise, not sexually  ), meaning that I also want to get my data right.

I would like to know what name suits him best. I mean, I've always called him Fallout Boy, but when you think about it, Vault Boy seems more logical. See, the little fella is only featured in the intro movie of Fallout (where he is associated with The Vault Of The Future franchise), the intro movie of Fallout 2 (where he features in a Vault Tec Production, a promotional movie about leaving the vault), in the manual (which is a Vault Tec publication) and the character creation screen (obviously a Vault Tec contraption). That makes him kind of a mascot for the whole Vault Tec franchise, right? Making the name Vault Boy much more likely, right?

What do you guys think about this?

Also: in Fallout 2, at a certain point, you can insert your Pip Boy into the main computer in Vault City and a hologram of a small fella appears, who gives you the finger or the thumbs up, I forgot. Anyway: is this fella Vault Boy (or Fallout Boy, ggrrrrr) or is it the Irish-looking mascot of the Pip Boy that appears?

I personally like Vault Boy better, if only because it has a better ring to it.
It's also doubtful that Vault Tec would call their mascot 'Fallout Boy'.

As for the Pip Boy incident, I'd assume that the character appearing would be the Pip Boy character (although I wouldn't put it beyond the team to confuse Pip Boy with Vault Boy). It just makes more sense that way.

I always considerede Pip Boy and Vault Boy to be the same (called Pip Boy). Since it would make sence to use the same character in comercials for the vault as on vault equipment i.e. the Pip(?)

Maby I'm just rambling...

Except that they aren't the same. If you'd actually look at the pictures you'd clearly see that the Pip Boy is vastly different from the Vault Boy.
Aside from that, the Pip Boy was not made by Vault Tek.

Vault Boy probably originated from Pip Boy, just changed clothes and hair along the way, and can thus be seen to be the same but of different generations.

I think the whole Vault Boy/Fallout Boy debate depends on wether you refer to the little guy as a reference to Fallout the game, or as a reference to his apperance in game.

It doesn't "depend". The Pip Boy is the duder in the game's personal computer/GUI. The Vault boy is the one with the vault jumpsuit and blond hair.

Jeez, what's with the zerg rush of retarded newbies lately?

No, CrazyApe, you're wrong. They're different mascots for different products from *different companies*. Jesus, man, they're really, *really* not the same.

Read the post before you awnser for fucks sake...

That post was about the names Vault Boy/Fallout Boy. Had nothing to do with Pip Boy.

Ehm, what?
Go re-read your *own* post. Here's what you said:

Yes, the second bit is about the name, but that bit was hardly relevant.

He's clearly confusing the first and second half of the post. The "depend" part has dipshit to do with Pip Boy. You even said so yourself.

Yes, but that has *no* relevance to the point Wooz was trying to make. You also said that your entire post had nothing to do with Pip Boy, which is clearly bullshit.

PS: Learn to properly use the quote function, for fuck's sake.

Nice try saving your own ass.

My second post might have refered incorrectly to my first. Instead of "The post" I should have writen "That part of the post". Nice nitpicking dude... But that still does not change the fact that wooz clearly missread the post before blasting it.

Expecting me to believe that he actually intended something other than what he wrote is just ritch. Ritch...

My own ass? How about at most Wooz's ass, since I didn't even write that bit of text?
Or how about this: I'm pointing out your bullshit.

Nice nitpicking? After you jump on *one word* of a post and ignore the entire point of that post I'm the one who's nitpicking? About what, exactly? I only responded exactly and fully to your posts.

Ritch? Ritchie?

..
Oh wait, Wooz banned you.
Ah well.

I'm nice like that.

Now, let's ignore the NWA* and resume this discussion.

I would just call him Pipboy.
It's the catchiest name and will be the easiest to market.

Who cares about 100% correctness?

....
Again?
Because it's correct. By using an incorrect name you create confusion and obfuscate what you actually want to say. If I start to refer to Vault Boy as Pipboy someone who knows what I'm talking about will think I'm talking about the Pipboy character. Hence completely confusing the meaning of what I would be trying to say.

It would also be a disservice to Leonard Boyarsky, who created the character.

Lastly, if you're only going to be here to just say 'Yeah you're right, but who cares?' then just don't say anything at all. It doesn't add anything to the discussion.

People like you are the reason to much that is fucked with the world of today. You and your kind are just trying to find excuses for being lazy and ignorant.
