Crysis

crysis allready has a dx9 version so that is no problem .. and after shadowrun i can bet no games will be released as dx10 only. also yes i think more games should use open gl ... problem is Microsoft makes things easyer for dx devs by having a lot of built and up to date in stuff

i've played the demo and the feel is nice ... a little more realistic weaps. and physics and smarter more logic ai would have put it in a great position - if only it werent for where the story seems to be going .. classic half-life/doomism aka invaders :) from portals

oh and it looks great ... eye bleedingly great

*bump* Just played through the game, I quite liked it. But something bugs me, did anyone else notice the similarity of the aliens' faces in crysis and the predator face?

Good graphics, shit gameplay. Just like Far cry, it's nothing but a showcase game. The company should think about becoming simple game engine developers, selling their fantastic engines to people who actually know how to make a good game.

I thought Far Cry gameplay was great. What makes it shit?

It's bland. the AI is, let's face it, pretty random and bad, and it's generally a pretty boring game. Got about halfway through, then got bored.

Naw, not really, I did think they looked a whole lot like the Spielberg movie aliens, the one with Tom Cruise, War of the Worlds I think it's called. (Fucking title translations -.-' )

I loved the AI, I suck at FPS games. Just put a silencer on your gun and "stealth", and shoot a bullet on the ground behind the NPC's and they'll turn right around where the bullet landed and look for cover from the sound source, so you can easilly pick 'em off.

Oh, and I love how you need 15-30 body shots with the silencer and 3-5 without them, not to mention the 3 or so 00 Buckshots to the Torso for a kill...

Adam sesler on x-play gave this game a bad review... watched it and i agreee. Good graphics, bad ai and gameplay.

The AI is a bit inconsistent. Some times it really impresses me, sometimes (on boats mainly) it sucks. As for the gameplay, I really enjoyed it. I liked the freedom to choose my plan of attack and route. It lost that to the end of the game, but I did like a good deal of the Alien/Frozen parts. The story is average at best, but it served it's purpose I suppose. All in all, I really enjoyed it.

I loved the scenery towards the end, I'm a sucker for ice and snow. But damn, I really hated the end missions. And the mothership-shit, they should've stuck to Koreans in my opinion.

The first half of the game was good, but weapons didn't do nearly enough damage to the Koreans, as well as their aim was superhumanly good (on Delta), they could hit you with an inaccurate .50 cal machinegun at a range of 400m precisely in the upper chest.. The second half of the game was quite linear and became a console arcade shooter, where you were just like; OH LOOK! ALIEN FLYER! Blast blast blast.

Multiplayer's still sort of fun. It has the C&C Renegade feel to it. :)

Agreed.

I like the beginning with all the mercenaries and the environments was/is very nice. But when you start to meet the “monsters” it really gets boring fast.

If i remember correctly i don't think the AI was to bad, not very good either tho. But i like how they searched for you based on sounds. And how you could hide from them in a pretty realistic way, they didn't have x-ray sight etc.

But it was not as good as let’s say the AI in FEAR. That’s probably the best FPS-AI in a long time, and before that it was HL1. HL1 is still in the top until this day, kinda sad really :)

Yahtzee reviews the game this week. Thought I'd post it because imho it's one of the funniest reviews he's done:

loink

Overhyped, generic, bullshit. DX 10 my fucking ballsack. I knew this game would fail because the biggest appeal to many people all along was the graphics. Graphics only carry a shooter so far.

I'm playing the game on Delta and finding it to be pretty fun. The suit idea is nice, especially if you become fast at switching between them. The AI in the game might be a little dumb sometimes, but what game's AI doesn't have problems? Hell, I've been blown up by grenades and chased by a helicopter halfway across one of those huge, open maps. I think it deserved it's 9.1 average, it just isn't as ground breaking, let's say, as Half-Life was.

EDIT:
