Had the chance to play it at a friend's this weekend. Well, usually I do not really care about graphics even when they look like poop and I am rarely impressed but I've got to say it looks really, REALLY gorgeous. It plays nice also. Well I'm not that much interested in the game itself but I've got to admit that as far as the graphics is concerned it is absolutely beautiful. Unreal engine 3 gets fucked in the ass, big time.
Actually...i think this whole graphic thing about crysis was just hype !
I have a Core 2 duo e6600 and 2 gb Ram and a 8800 Ultra .
I set everything on highest on 1680x1050 resolution .the framerate was acceptable but the graphics aren't really THAT ground breaking .not everything looks pretty in the game.
btw...why does crytek ALWAYS make games in a fucking jungle/ paradise setting.it is like as if the whole fucking team had the dream to visit the caribbean in their childhood !

Because those settings are amongst the most graphically demanding to make, and Crytek is a technology/showcase company, I wouldn't call them a games company. I guess they made lots of money off Crysis though, so they probably don't care about making bad games.

Isn't AI just a variable script?
The pre-scripts you talk about in HL1 is what made the enemy soldiers come into action, when the player triggered some script by moving past a certain point. But in what way they "choose" to attack you and in what way they "choose" to move isn't pre-defined script, not to mention they way they covered each other. That was the AI, but then again the AI consist of pre-defined scripts of how to act to different events/situations, but isn't that true for most AI in FPS games?

Just finished Crysis yesterday. 1280x1024, everything on Medium. Sometimes, the framerate dropped a little, but it was still acceptable.
I just wondered why Half-Life2 looked a lot better on my machine. (The water, especially) Isn't it supposed to be at least equal, given the fact that it needs hardware that is a lot more powerful?
I spent hours just cutting down trees with machine guns...
Crysis is a decent shooter, but it can't hold a candle to Half-Life 2.

Played it on a friends house , and the graphics are quite good... However i think that isn´t good as HL2 ones...
The game is quite exagerated... If it keep the scars, aks, snipers, smgs ect. it would be OK, but the gauss rifle and minigun shit
Anyway, enjoyed playing and the weapon acessories are cool... Its cool to add a scope and a silencer to your scar (Its a M8, don´t?) and make some silent headshots .

Crysis is a graphic show-off. The announcer voice saying MAAXIMMMUM STREEENGHT, the fact you're being a one man army, plus the aliens make it too childish (for kids) for me. I'm done playing such shit, I want something that demands more thinking or at least gives a cool story or characters....not mowing down trees and raming houses with a car.
