Custom Art Repository

of course. it just started in a rush, and died randomly after a bit, so i was interested in what happened. if you need help sorting out stuff, attaching tags, or something, i'm willing to help.
 
Okay, two months have past (almost) does anyone want to take ownership of this, or shall I go ahead and make and make a wiki repository?

All files will have to be PNG lossless, which the wiki will accept, unless we can get a host for the FRMS, in which case we will use JPGs. We wont be able to provide animated FRMs without a host, unless we use animated gifs in 256, which can be lossy. These are the categories I was thinking of:

I don't want to spam the wiki with one page per item, so many categories are needed to reduce the load time.

(Catergory list pinched from FMF) Comments? This would work better if someone knocked something together, but I only have access to the wiki for this. Who wants to host the files? traffic will be minimal due to the niche nature of this, Brother None?

Well, I did start to prepare such system two months ago, but later I had been literally "dragged by exams" until now (also, I haven't seen here a single post for a month, so I considered the idea quite dead).

It pretty much sums up a lot of Fallout content, so I will add it soon. I can host files to some extent, and Brother None suggest that NMA may host the files if the repository gets too active.

I would like to oppose the idea of using a wiki (or specifically, MediaWiki), because it can get quite hard to customize and there is no possibility to automatically sort content.
 
Cool :D thanks for starting this, I don't like the wiki idea either, but I thought I would have no choice.

It is supposed to stop spam robots and to be less obtrusive than image captcha (where the software is right now more successful than humans). I wanted to use math captcha, but recently, two or three robots managed to bypass it on my other site...

OK, I have just realise that it's a logical list and that i have to find the "intruder". So the answer to this question, from your list will be : limit (generic term not related to the Fallout universe, i guess).
But i have another list, when i want to create an account. The list

  • Redding
    Cramer
    Arroyo
    Modoc
    Enclave
    nuclear

For me the "intruder" is Cramer (mathematical stuff, not Fallout Related), but it could be nuclear (no cap). I got an illegal choice. Maybe i am wrong.

No, no problem at all - Rules and Tutorial are clear. Maybe a create content on the left bar or int the menu bar near tutorial ?

You are right, I changed it to another type of CAPTCHA. The list seems to be very easy when it is complete (e.g. 15 Fallout words and 15 math words), but when you have to find just one unrelated, then it gets difficult.

Hi, I just happen to have some frm that I could share but I've got some question about uploading. Well I just want to know if I have frms that are belonging to each others (vault69 door and main gate/door) then is it okey if I put them up in one zip also I made a cop car in two color (black/blue).

Well, the theory was that separate items should be separate (e.g. two different doors are two different uploads) and items that belong together (e.g. a large scenery with many pieces) should be one upload. Just apply your common sense :-)

Ok thanks, Vualt69 door is up. I will put the others up seperetly but now I'm tired so I leave it to another day
 
I'll start uploading stuff now, but I couldnt get the first rock image to attach properly, could you fix Rock1?
 
In general, the creator of has copyright on it automatically (details vary by country). It is not in the public domain unless the author explicitly places it there, or a significant amount of time has passed. This would probably fall under fair-use clauses (non-commercial, with attribution). I have no idea what copyright law in the Czech Republic (or Poland) is, so someone local should czech that. Sorry, couldn't resist the pun.

I recommend making a reasonable effort (email or forum message) to contact the modders, regardless of how old the mod is. They'd probably appreciate knowing about it before someone else uses their artwork in another mod. I'd be pretty unhappy if someone ripped off my work without telling me. If you can't reach them, it's probably safe to upload it.
