Dark Souls 2

So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs

Anyone else playing Dark Souls 2? I've been painfully working my way through. I loved Dark Souls 1, so I'm having a lot of fun (aside from all the death) with the second one. It's even better this time around because I started playing when it just came out... everything is brand new, so everyone is learning the bosses, finding new items and figuring out a lot of the hidden content. I fell off a ledge by accident and ended up finding a sweet ring in a hidden area guarded by giants. If there's any game that rewards exploration and difficulty it's definitely this one.

A month until the PC release, a month until the PC release, a month until the PC release. :tired:

Other than that yea gonna play it, just may got a tad crazy due to the wait.

Oh man, PC release was delayed? That sucks balls... it's super good though. Don't know if that helps with the waiting. They really made some gameplay improvements while maintaining the difficulty. Not sure what the PC version of Dark Souls was like but graphically it's also a lot smoother and they got rid of the ridiculous rag doll physics too.

if it helps them to improve the gameplay, then they should delay it. I mean they should get the port correct, like the controlls and all that.

The PC port of the first one was absolute ass. The resolution was locked at 720, which you had to download a mod to fix and the game still looked like shit. If a delay prevents things of that sort, it's a must.

I'm amazed how much I still enjoyed that game though. Hasn't happened to me in awhile.

Enjoying the game very much. Basically dying all the time and getting screwed over because dying=less HP. Still, good game. :D I just wonder how people play so fast through such games. I still not finished a single area.

Strategy guides and general craziness.

I've gotten up to the Old Iron King so far and I've only really been playing since Friday.

I've died quite a few times.

Probably like 28 or so.

I'm not sure how far along I am but I just passed the queen lady in Drangleic (?) castle. I'm soul level 110 I think.

Death wise I'm probably in the hundreds because I'm friggin' retarded. Over a 100 at least because that blue covenant guy gives you a ring once you exceed 100 deaths.

I cant wait for the PC release, watched bit of streams and such to see if its what ive been waiting for. It looks good so far, graphically it seems more "crisp" than DS1 but more washed out, maybe they add lighting to the PC release. One thing that does concern me however is that there seems to be
teleporting between firelinks now right off the bat and the areas dont seem to connect similarly to each others like the starting areas in DS1 which i quite enjoyed
.

Yeah, a lot of areas still connect to each other. There's no loading screens or anything and you can still unlock shortcuts. Fast travel between bonfires is really convenient. The world is also friggin' huge.

The world still doesn't feel as Dark Souls 1 anymore, in that you really notice that you are playing in that one kingdom and the surrounding areas which are all in some way connected. Dark Souls 2 is like Fallout 2 all over again, each area is different, a Theme Park like experience. That doesn't mean the areas aren't fun, but DS1 was much superior in that case. Sometimes, less is more.

And of course, the dumbest decision ever - having to teleport to the main hub to level up. Yeah, like that was really neccessary and listening to "Chosen Undead...." everytime you want to do that is so much fun.

Not sure what the PC version of Dark Souls was like

Like crap. Technically, at least.

Gameplay-wise, it was fine, but too grindy/frustrating for my taste. I think Yatzee nailed it in his late review of the game. I'm not usually one to say such things, but I hope they've streamlined the new game at least a bit.

I finished the game and was pleased to see you can keep playing after the final boss. Let's you clean up any remaining stuff you want to do before new game+. Bonfire ascetics are friggin' OP though. Been mad farming Dragon Aerie for all that sweet, sweet loot.

There's a trophy/achievement for no deaths. That must be driving a few peeps crazy.

Been watching a few LP's of it, hmmm dat lore. On an interesting note the official guide of 2 is actually written by fans of DS1 that Namco invited to write it, don't see that sort of fan support much anymore.

There isn't any trophy/achievement for no deaths, though supposedly there a couple items you can get if you beat the game without dying or without resting at a bonfire. No idea if those are legit or not.

Currently trying to kill the Smelter Demon. Good luck with that when the only decent weapon I have is a +8 Fire Longsword. -.- I may have to summon help for this one.

No idea if those are legit or not.

Those are the Illusory Rings of the Conqueror and the Exalted.

One makes your left-hand weapon invisible and the other makes your right-hand weapon invisible.

Basically show prizes, because if you can beat the game without dying or resting at a bonfire, you probably wouldn't need to hide your weapons to win a fight.

Though, nobody suspects Chameleon spell in PvP.

Killed so many peeps just hiding and popping them in the back without them realizing.

There's an item that does it too. The blood covenant guy sells them. I joined the rat covenant with a fully unlocked/upgraded pharros tomb and went to bed while I hid somewhere disguised a sconce. Came back the next morning to collect all my rat tails. People just gettin' wrecked by mastadons.
