-Jesus fuck, did they give me a fuckton of foreshadowing for the next DLCs. It's like Chris Avellone materialized in my room, punched me in the groin, and said, "I'm not done with your wallet yet, faggot."

Good end: Eric Fenstermaker appears in his stead, holds you by the hand, stares deep into your eyes and says in a calming baritone "I'm gonna make everything alright."

Then they do battle to determine who gets to be Lead Writer for the next Fallout game and there's lasers and rockets and fire and rainbows.

Maybe he is one on a DLC. As for a full project I would rather see him first take on a smaller one. For experience.

In all seriousness, here's what foreshadowings I got (Spoilered for people who haven't beaten it, PC/PS3 users should just go ahead and spoiler themselves)

[spoiler:408ac6e4a3]A courier with a Pre-War flag on his back rescued Christine in her previous encounter with Elijah. He is hunting another Courier. The companions tell of a battle in the Divide between the Mojave Courier (Courier 6) and this courier.[/spoiler:408ac6e4a3]

[spoiler:408ac6e4a3]A place called the Big Empty. It's filled with pre-war tech and other things.[/spoiler:408ac6e4a3]

Also, one of those challenge things told me I missed three other foreshadowy things, so damnit.

Hm dammit, I don't mind the spoilers ( I read them) and the stuff in there is very pleasing, but here we go again: I know the writing in this DLC is superb and all, but the atmosphere seen on the screens is just not fitting for me.

Now the question: Will this DLC be essential if I want to "get" the following DLC?

Nope.

How's that BAR lookalike in the picture?

Is it useful or not?
It's like an automatic This Machine. And This Machine could kill Deathclaws with one clip.

Is it integrated well into the game environment? Is the way that you enter and exit the DLC believable and interesting?
In the beginning, sleep gas knocks you out, and Dog takes your equipment, as chemicals and radiation (which all of your stuff has been exposed to) trigger security systems at the entrance to the Villa, and transports you to the Sierra Madre. At the end, you just click on a gate and it takes you back.
EDIT: I'm going to bed. I'll answer stuff tomorrow, K?

Just out of curiosity, what level should one be before attempting the DLC? I'm only level 6 and just got to Novac following the main quest. I doubt it's something I should feel like getting into just yet but I'd eventually enjoy tackling it.

It doesn't scale, I presume..

From what I've read is recommended from level 20. Also, according to a guy on SomethingAwful, hardcore does additional things in the DLC.

The DLC IS hard by the way. In fact its probably easily the most challenging section of the game so far.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I wonder what happens if you access it too early (or how they go about preventing one for doing so).

I don't think they prevent it outright. You're probably going to get your ass handed by the enemies though. That said, obviously I don't have the DLC so this is really just me speculating.

So I guess this means there's a lot of forced fighting in the DLC? I expected some of course but I read some reports which likened it to Operation Anchorage only with really good writing... Which is rather worrying.

How is the gameplay? Skill checks? Combat or ways to avoid it? Any exploration?
