You know you have problems if you look at the title and think of a porno.

I really can't see how a nuke could slow down a rock the size of Sydney with nukes, I mean, c'mon. The comet would be going to fast that a) it'd have a hard time slowing it down at all, and b) The way NASA is going, if they actually tried to test a nuke in space (which they probably wouldn't be allowed to do) they'd have the bloody thing crash back down on them.

Units Of Measure

Units Of Measure

Did NASA finally use all metric, or all American Stanard measurements in this collison?

Will NASA finance the 'Spirit' and 'Opportunity' rovers on Mars, with STAR WARS, faith based, antimissile defense contracts?

NASA as a DOD 'sub contracter' , how does one -- measure -- that?

Nuclear satellites
Thrown up in space
Will all burn out someday
Guess where they'll crash?

We've been lucky so far
Every toy up there is another chernobyl
Waiting to happen

Why?

Space shuttle blew up again
People drop dead
News says "don't worry"
Then the truth comes out

Since 1988
Every shuttle in space
Has carried 46
Pounds of plutonium

Why?
I don't know
I'm scared to care

Enough plutonium
That if it blows
The fallout cancer
Could kill 5 billion people.

So now it's over
It's really over
Space junk in the street
Irradiated atmosphere

Fallout covers the earth
Greenhouse so hot we fry
Six months, maybe years
We all know we'll die

So - what matters now?
Nothing matters now.
Imagine what would happen
If everyone on earth
Realized this at once

Gonna go loot stores!
Piss anywhere!
Break into peoples houses
Play with their underwear!

Strew all my prizes in the street
You can't take it with you
Nothing left to do
But go home
And bolt the doors

Why?

Let's curl up real close
And tell each other
All the things we still don't know
About our lives

Why?

Falling space junk in the streets
Radiation in the air,
Nothing left that's safe to eat,
The sky is melting,

And I want my mommy.

#13?

Weird, I just got #13 today on a list of peoples wanting to take an exam to enter this 1337 computer school.

Where did you get that about the plutonium? And killing five BILLION people? Please. If there is any plutonium onboard the Orbiter, it's a back up power source for the solar cells and an armored RTG at that. It's made to come down intact if it does.

Deep Impact was really cool. I was watching NASA TV online with a bunch of astronomy people I know. Apparently the impactor generated 500 tons which is pretty nice for something smaller than a kitchen table. - Colt

Hysterical Revisionism

Hysterical Revisionism

So you guys think I should lighten up and drop this snot nosed, negative NASA posturing? I've been hanging on to this bad baggage since the failed landings on Mars.

Maybe if I simulate a positive space (ad)venture, it would be good affirmation therapy.

Dirty laundry launched under bed, destined to collide with unknown species of dust bunnies ...... at T minus 10 ...... 9 ... 8 ....
