Different race decisions

Your lack of imagining is staggering.

There could be a vault inside the small cave if the designers choose.
no not a minivault, a real size vault. before dogmeat or one of the redhaired dwarfs explore it there i preciously few way of knowing.

But then it wouldn't be a "for a little while," which you earlier mentioned, please, stop contradicting yourself.
You DO NOT spend a "little while" exploring Vaults.

This reply\post isnt pondered heavily but what if you could play your npc for a little while while your party waited, say play a dog to fetch something from the inside ov a small cave or play a ghoul to blend into a ghoul comunity?

Kotor 2 uses this to a degree, doesnt it?
And completely ignore the entire basis of Fallout: P&P Roleplaying? Hah!
Why would you possibly want to do this? It requires an ass-load of work, it would probably break the immersion to a degree, and for it to be of any use parts of the game won't be accessible to people with different party members.

you never played a henchman or a ghoul in a p&p RPG?

My intension wasnt to exclude game areas to parties without a dog or to ressurect dogmeat. Just as an alternative, perhaps less violent way to solve quests. I agree that it could ruin some of the immersion.

They were called, by YOU, mind you, NPCs. That means you don't jump into their heads and begin playing them directly. Non-intuitive.

I think it would ruin ALL the immersion, since one of the central tenets of this game was that, ultimately, you were on your own. That includes not suddenly leaping into your dogs skull.

Usually playing an extra character in a pnp session was just down to the lack of players for every possible character in the scenario and the DM allowing you to take control so they wouldn't have to play every bit part.

Since you don't have those hassles with a computer game it makes no sense to give you control of npcs.

Ok My suggestion is rebuked.
I wasnt all that happy with the prospect of playing a unwashed dog or a radiated corpe either. Just saying it could be done as it has been done in other games.

Agrees to that it would ruin the feeling of being alone in the Wasteland. Im in favor of not having any NPC partymembers at all even though they add flavor to the setting.

Any NPC partymember should atleast be a talking head! They added Alot of sympathi to the character. I always kept Sulik and Marcus Alive but i didnt give a rats ass if Vic got splattered.
