Direction of New Vegas' DLC

Josh stated repeatedly they're not going to do that because that'd take away from the significance of the ending changes.

I lol'd

Also, there's a burned man tag on a wall at Nipton Road Pit Stop. I think that the DLC will have something to do with him.

Probably the DLCs will open up the Northern Passage and the key for the gate in the Mojave Outpost will magically appear.

The second would pretty much mean going back to areas we've already visited in Fallout 1 & 2.. I'm personally not sure if I want that.

Well, no. What I meant is that you'll be able to explore the part of the New Vegas map that is behind those gates. You know, there's all that "wasted" space...

That and that one valley that's blocked off with junk and rude messages early on.

It's the one that if I recall correctly is a bit Northwest of Primm.

Or maybe Southwest.

I know it's west of that burnt out Drive-in.

It's closed because it's the NCR border and makes sense to be closed there. That's why I said that going from there would mean going back to old locations.

I would say the Outpost gate being unlocked is a safe bet. Would also say a continuation of the game and "free roam" being made available via DLC is a safe bet as well. Sure, peoples quotes say otherwise, but it is easy money in the bank. Just look at how many people are complaining about no free-roam, money talks.

I doubt this, as it's there to limit the gameworld as a natural border (natural borders > invisible borders).

Things can be added and changed quite easily, nothing is set in stone. Hell, they could market some crappy 5 hour addition quest and just allow free-roam to be set in, throw even a $20 price tag on it and it would sell like hot cakes. Just think of the money to be made with so little effort involved.

You can't simply move the natural border. Either the door is opened and you will then find a invisible border like in Fallout 3 a little bit far away, or it stays closed and works as is.

If at all, they could add some more stuff in the north west or south east part of the map, I think.

What is this free roam we're talking about? I'm currently free to roam wherever in NV right?

Instead of adding levels or removing the cap, which would require them to rebalance the skills/special/perks values, it would make sense to drastically increase the number of xp required to get to the next level as you level up, effectively weakening the player from the start.

It would make getting to level 30 actually feel like an accomplishment if it took something like 100 times more xp to go from 29-30 than it did from 1-2 and it would probably minimize the number of people hitting the cap before they're even close to done with the main quest.

I haven't even touched the strip yet and I'm at level 22 already, which worries me..

For DLC I could see a rebalance like this, accompanied with some new items and locations around the existing map and added questlines that would all take place before the ending of the vanilla game.

This way wouldn't require them to back out of their 'definitive ending' statements, and they'd still be able to add content with ease, and make sure that the content is useful to the player and not just more filler.

As it is, it seems like they were trying to make this game less of a walk in the park than FO3, so it would be in line with what they've done so far to ratchet up the difficulty further by nerfing the player a bit from the start and adding in bigger harder enemies with huge DT in the late game like they did in the early parts of the game with radscorps and cazadors.

It would take more killing/questing to reach the higher levels and prepare yourself along the way in the main quest, and they could add areas with horribly overpowering enemies that are off of the main quest path so when you're nearing the endgame there is still something in the wastes that doesn't get rolled over by your high level character.

Free-Roam is being able to play the game after the main quest is complete. You know how like in Fallout 2 after you blew up the Oil-Rig it asked if you would like to continue playing? Like that. An extremely popular feature in large sandbox games such as this. In particular, an extremely vocal sect of players have been venting frustration over lack of free-roaming being in Fallout New Vegas.

Enough so that no one should really be surprised when the developers see all the commotion and figure out that for very little effort they can make a great deal of profit.

I've seen some graffiti in the texture files regarding Sierra Madre. I'm guessing we'd go there in one of the DLCs.

Sierra Madre would be the Angel's Boneyard. Here too, I somehow doubt this. The Boneyard is just too big to feature it only in a small DLC, even if it's just a small outer part of it.

I bet I would be disappointed of it.

Maybe there will be some new companion DLC like Bioware did with Mass Effect 2. I'd totally love to have Marcus backing me up (provided he lost his propensity of accidentally gibbing me in Fallout 2), and I liked how he had the firmest grasp of the politics of the Mojave wasteland. I'd pay to see him piss off that misogynist jackass Caesar with his remarks about the Legion.

Given the game's western style, I wouldn't a DLC that maybe included Mexico. Raul could be involved, would give him a chance to do more. Maybe a trip south down the Colorado.

If they increased the level cap, they could also increase the skill caps from 100%, and add new doors, computers, speech checks and enemies where that would be relevant.
