Do you think Microsoft will now push Bugthesda to release a remaster of New Vegas?

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
We all know for a fact that Todd HATES New Vegas for proving that he and his cronies don't understand Fallout for shit. When Oblivion Remaster was released I expected it to be laughed at and ignored, similar to Star Field. It's still Bugthesda game after all, wide as an ocean, shallow as a puddle.

However, as of the time of writing, the game is sitting at 82% (out of 40k+ reviews). Hell, it had an all time peak of 150 000+ people and even now more than 40 000 are playing it daily. Personally, I am not sure I want that. I definitely see notFallout 3 being remastered. Why? Because people see through nostalgia goggles and remember it better than it was.

As for New Vegas... your guess is as good as mine. I would say 50% at most. What do you guys think?

I don’t think Todd hates New Vegas. If they end up remastering 3 (which is all but confirmed at this point) then they’ll probably do the same to New Vegas.

Yeah... I think saying Todd hates New Vegas is kind of shallow at this point.
I don't know what Todd thinks, I've never spoken to the guy.
I don't know if when he gets home, he has a picture of New Vegas on a dart board that he throws darts at every night.

I do think a New Vegas remaster is very likely however. How much did it cost to remaster Oblivion? I think the risk/reward is worth it.

It's probabbly a matter of legal rights or something.

I have my doubt that Bethesda can do anything to the works of Obsidian.

After all, if they can, they would have done so so so long ago.

Fallout 4 proved that: they cant do sheeeesh, so they avoid and circumvent it entirely.

If Bethesda were to remaster New Vegas, they would fuck it up hard like they did with Oblivion remastered, which was their own game. Besides, wouldn't it make way more sense for Microsoft to let Obsidian remaster it since they were the ones who developed it?

ask yourself "did Microsoft do anything with their studios they bought besides shutting them down?" and you will get your answer
it is only bethesda decision to give the green light to obsidian
and even so, this is remaster that neither fix previous bug and problems nor it makes the game system like the bad leveling system better and no restoring cut content, it is just texture pack and quality of life mod for easy money
nv will be the same game but worse to run since they ue5 and memory leak issues

I think its a bit extreme to say todd hates new vegas but likely yes they probably will make a remaster of new vegas with it being one of the most beloved entries in the franchise i dont think the push will be from microsoft however but more likely from fans especially if you believe fallout 3 is getting remastered i feel thatd create a push for a nv remaster

I don't think Bethesda 'fucked up hard' when the Oblivion remaster was made. I haven't gotten the chance to play it myself yet, but from what I understand, they kept the quest design, mechanics and gameplay largely the same, for better or worse. What stuff they DID change was was mainly the graphics (obviously), the UI and added a few new voice actors here and there. For the most part, they did what a remaster is largely supposed to be: keeping almost everything the same but improving the game's appearance and adding a few quality of life improvements to help make playing it easier.

For that reason, I don't think Bethesda remastering New Vegas would be inherently bad if it's like that. Touching only the graphics and not touching the writing or quest design would keep what makes us love the game intact: the thought provoking writing and world building. New Vegas' biggest flaw was always the graphical quality because of the outdated Gamebryo engine, so even with UE5's weird, brownie tint, New Vegas would still probably look better than it did back in 2010 with a touch up.

I know for the most part, Bethesda kept the remaster largely the same as the original but at the same time they made some odd design and creative decisions, like when they added a terrible color filter similar to Fallout 3 and New Vegas despite it not being present in the original, or when they decided to redesign the NPCs to be less expressive and generic looking. Another one is when they did type 1 and type 2 body selections instead of just having male and female. I know this isn't a deal breaker, but I can't help but question "Why should I play a more dull and generic version of the original game with an ugly filter?". I am very sure if Bethesda were to remaster New Vegas they are gonna redesign some of the locations and NPCs from New Vegas to be more bland and generic like they did with Oblivion Remaster, giving me very little reason to buy the remastered version especially if they aren't gonna add the cut content of New Vegas that was supposed to be originally present.

I believe the filter in the Oblivion remaster is a side effect of it being on UE5 rather than Bethesda wanting the game extra brown intentionally. I assume they'd need to manually tweak things to get the lighting just right, but I could be wrong on that.

If they make a Fallout 3 remaster, which seems all but inevitable after all the rumours and the Oblivion Remaster dropping just like that, New Vegas seems a logical next step - it's a game which shares the same engine and assets.

I just hope they aren't cowards and use it to touch up New Vegas, instead of just The Same Game With Better Graphics. Restore content, bring back the original map size plan, integrate the DLCs with the main game and each other (so we can do things like telling Veronica about Christine and telling Caesar that Joshua Graham is dead and we killed him, etc), expand on the Legion, revamp the combat to be closer to FO4 and 76 in shooter action, etc. A New Vegas freed of its horrible Gamebryo early 2010s shell could likely last decades just with the mod community tinkering with it.
