EA to acquire Take-Two Interactive

Hello Mord_Sith,

Like a lot of things, it suddenly got discovered by some mainstream giants and suddenly everyone had to be a part of it, making it less special for those who actually cared about it before it became popular.

It's not 'less special' more like it's becoming bloated and increasingly modified to fit with the North American sales market because that is what they are trying to appeal to now because the bucks are there for the doorknobs who think that dubbed is 'authentic' anime.

Don't get me wrong, some rare dubs are ok, but North America has not had the voice acting talent since the radio died to handle shows of this caliber, so you wind up with the most annoying voices in the world because they're not properly trained.

Subs over Dubs all the way!

That's pretty much how I learned to speak random phrases in Japanese to scare the exchange students.

But on topic, if there is any credence to these rumors, I am both scared and angry!

Well it has been the EA tactic for a while now, and even if this was just a hoax, there will be a period when this could happen.

I wonder how many developers would still stay with Take Two Interactive if an acquisition happened?

I see the world probably going the way of most cyberpunk novels.
Global conglomerates superceding governments and militaries and ruling through mercenary forces and economic control.

Nah, having corporations rule over us wouldn't be that bad.
I mean, it would be far from good, but anarchy would probably be even worse.

Heh, I think this deserves its own topic, but I don't really agree.
I am not sure if I know the concept of freedom well enough but I really dislike the idea of corporations directly ruling the world one day.

Perhaps a little extreme, but I myself would rather destroy the world then let that ever happen, because in my opinion such a world (well human society) has no right to exist.

? Really now... I find the potential to have a Blade Runner-esque world sexually invigorating... mostly because I wish Sean Young was my love interest. Watch EA boost the corporate economies quickly enough to the point where the time period "Los Angeles, 2019" Is correct.

Its rather the appeal of a fantasy/make believe world, than something you would really like to experience as a reality.

Man, this thread has gone a little off topic.

I thought there were anti-trust laws to make this sort of things go away, at least in the US? Or have I been misinformed?

I can tell you that EA to me seems to be a fire-eating steaming all gaming eating dragon that isn't satisfied untill they own everything in the universe, gamewise. Unfortunately, they seem to have the money to buy things they wanna buy...

EA does not need to buy Bethsoft as they only need to buy the parent company, Zenimax Media Inc. However, Zenimax Media Inc. really is the rich men's playground as Donald Trump etc. sit on the board of Zenimax Media. Bethesda Game Studios is in a very unique position as the money to develop games don't come from say Microsoft (I think?) but from the parent company, Zenimax Media Inc. Bethesda Sofftworks is the publishing arm of the Zenimax Media Inc. company. Hopefully, this means that EA keep its fingers a very long way away from Zenimax and Bethesda.

However, a giant like EA can also be too big, me thinks. This means that at some point EA will crush under its own weight....
