If any of you did this effort, please know that i kept every light on, i turned up the heating, ive kept my tv on all day, i kept the computer on all night defragging and all day of course, and i used both the frying pans and the oven, took a long shower, and loaded my cellphone.

your effort has been reversed!

mohahahahahahaha!

seriously, last year i actually got into an argument with someone who thought i was truly a horrible person for not shutting my electricity off for one hour.
the ammount of seriousness some people put into this concept is like taken right out of a parody.

at least we here know well what we can look foreward to when society finally breaks down. dibs on the vault suit!

Dude, these threads are very good, but they aren't very well recieved in the 'General Discussion Forum'. Best to post these stuff in The Order where it gets abused every 12 seconds.

Your friend is an idiot. Massive dip in consumption caused by everyone shutting off their electricity at the same time puts an enormous strain on the electric grid, and is potentially as damaging as a terrorist attack, while at the same time it nets no positive effects on the environment, unless you regard increased grid maintenance expenses as positive. If people wanted to put an actual dent in excessive electricity use, they could all permanently dispose of their AC units, but that would be too much to ask of pompous environmentalistas like your friend, who are environmentally conscious only when it doesn't inconvenience them personally.

And yes, I turned on every light in my house and turned up heat, but then it got too fucking hot, so I turned on AC as well. I win.

I wonder how much energy it took to produce all the candles the convenience environmentalists burn instead of keeping their bulbs on that hour. Because I'm fairly sure they wouldn't spend an hour in the dark. Probably have their pads on too.

Well, i can't really afford to leave the lights on anyway, what with the prices of electricity in my country (or with the prices of everything in contrast to the avarage wage). The only thing that's running is my computer, so i guess i'm pretty energy saving conscious

why are you guys exaggerating yeah almost "raging" so much?

Because they are trying to justify their behavior to themselves. It's a common pychobabble thing.
riiiiiiiiight.

Hey if some people care enough to put their lights out. Well let them. Sheesh. people! I know I bitch much ... but you guys have nothing better to do :P

Going to bed is potentially more damaging than a terrorist attack? I'm fairly sure they have systems in place so they don't have to turn off the supply. Probably putting it into potential energy or something.

Heh, don't let america catch up that one. "Terrorists! Terrorists everywhere, in every house!"
