A Smooth-Skin
I've been listening a lot to this band, in my opinion the best ex-Yugoslavia ever produced. Most of them died young, it's quite a sad story really.

Anyway, I wanted to share a few songs, in no particular order. Will post more if there's interest.

I understand it. No surprise.

But well I am not sure if it is the kind of music that might become very popular outside of the former yugoslavian states.

But it reminds me to the Yugoslavian time of "pop". Probably everyone knows Lepa Brena .

this shit sucks dexter

seriously

music has evolved quite a lot since them olden times

I'm not really a music critic but I think it's pretty damn good. Then again, I can understand the lyrics and furthermore understand the historical and cultural context that this music was produced in so the emotional impact (what I primarily use to judge whether a particular piece of music is "good" [for me] or not) is much much greater.

And damn I feel sorry for Maggie (keyboard player). In music school she was in the same class as a world renowned pianist Ivo Pogorelic and she was actually ahead of him (head of the class). Her parents wouldn't let her go to Moscow conservatory to study further. She died in absolute squalor in 2002.

I should have mentioned that you need to be from the balkan area for that. Obviously :P

I thought you meant that :)
My great grandmum was Croatian, but I've been there only once, so I don't know much about music around there.

But seriously, the melody of these songs sound mediacore and very pop. Nothing special.
Kind of like Disco Polo in Poland :P

well Lepa Brena was the "incarnation" of Yugoslavian pop. So yeah. Correct in that.

But one has to say she was pop in a time when it was very famous.
