Ever notice how there are no women in STALKER?

Ever notice how there are no women ingame in the English version of Gothic? The German version might be considered worse on that angle, as the only woman in the game is a sex slave with a single line of dialog.

I noticed, but I don't really care.

You haven't been looking hard enough. There are (supposed to be) five women in total in the first Gothic game. All of them sex slaves and all of them share the same German-accented line.

And all of them unkillable.

No, it is because it has been too long since I have played Gothic. Now that I think about, I believe the German version has a nude skin for Gomez's slave when she baths, and that is what was changed for the English version.

Other than that, I can remember Yberion has two women in his temple. If you want to be generous (which I think the 'five women' thing is), you could count the one women being sent into the prison with the other goods from the intro movie. Any idea who the fifth woman is? Or possibly fourth as well, if the woman from the intro movie doesn't count.

I think I recall the developers stating that there were no women in STALKER intentionally. I don't remember where, though.

As if the Zone needed the added horror of hundreds of filthy, sex starved, Ukrainian men.

It's still there. You just have to find and delete a file in the English version and there you go. The file had the word "bikini" in the title.

My headcount of women in the game: Three women in the castle, and two with Yberion. The woman in the intro is one of the women in the castle.

Yes, but as far as I remember, Gothic's world was set in a prison, hence it's obvious there will be few women in a men's penitential facility.

The Zone, however, isn't. And there are no wimminz.

pretty obvious, but there are plenty of games who have no women or very little.

HL1 springs to mind. only the assassins are female.

and in HL1 there is also the hologram in the training scenario that's female if my memory serves me right.

Negative. We do have a few female members.

A few, but they're there.

The Women are creeping and lurking in every community. Their boobs are spying on us. :look:

But, to get back on topic, how many spots does STALKER have where it would make a lot of sense for there to be women?

Eh?

Eh?

Peeee-ooop!

Perhaps the fine folk over at GSC thought that women would be too intelligent to wander into a radiation-soaked deathtrap?

Or perhaps they simply didn't want to fool around with creating extra models.
