F! True Company Story: Troika Games

I have to agree with Ashmo...I dont think a "real" MMORPG can have "real" storytelling. However PsychoSniper reminds me that this IS Troika...who knows.

I just hope the company doesnt get run into the ground for profit.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

"true RP" MMORPG? Am I the only one who understands enough about game design to know that such a thing is not possible?
As Montez pointed out, you can't control the players and that's where most interaction in MMORPGs comes from.

i'd wager that the guys at Troika have better insight into game design than you Ashmo.

besides, it seems like you guys dislike MMORPGs so much that you won't even take a look at it when it's finished. so what are you whining about? if it turns out to suck, well, just don't play it thats all. if Troika wants to dabble in the arts of the MMORPGs, just let them & see what they make of it...

might turn out as a complete fuckup of course, but what do we've got to loose?

Uhm, you don't need decades of game design experience in order to be able to point out the flaws behind certain concepts.

PS: Yes, there's an "unless", but I said that if they did that it wouldn't be an MMORPG anymore so it'd be pointless to claim you can make an MMORPG with all that.

You cannot make an MMORPG which restricts player interaction to a limit and provides an ongoing person-focussed storyline and roleplaying setting simply because that's not an MMORPG anymore. MMORPGs are called "Massively Multiplayer" because there are a lot of interacting players and it bears that in its name because player interaction typically is the development focus.
If you take that element you get an Online RPG and that's got nothing to do with MMORPGs.

Whelp, but what do I know anyway? I'm just a casual gamer who's been reading books on game design concepts in his free time.
