Fallout 2 mod: Vault Rats

To the guy who didn't know what to do with the original data0000 thing:

Just move it into "My Documents" or something, put lisac's one into your Fallout 2 directory, and start up the game. If you want to play Fallout 2 again, just switch them back. No worries.

Good work, Lisac2k. Creative and funny, apparently you´re a good writer (in spite of this you have still some misprints among the texts). Maybe I´ll make a Czech version (already uploaded on Madbrahmin). //EDIT: just in case of beating that boring (un)pack system.

so i have to overwrite the original file to install the mod? what ifi want to change it back?

You can *move* the file somewhere else, and move it back when you want to uninstall the mod.
It's not that hard.

I made a document (txt file) called VAULT RATS MOMENTS, it's kind of guide, walkthrough and list of features and details, plus their explanations. All in one.

If you want to play all the features through and see all the details in there, I recommend you reading that document.

Great Mod. I'll have to finish playing through it later but I gave it a test run and giggled most the way through.

It froze my computer when I tried running into the invisible wall for the 2nd time though.

Great mod! I've sent you, Lisac2k, a list of bugs with screenshots which I found during the game.

I've fixed several notorious bugs, added one new feature and patched the mod to version 1.01. From now on, you can track down and download the current version of the Vault Rats from my signature (currently it's v1.01).

All changes can be found in the readme.v1.01.txt file, which comes within the RAR archive. Along with the updates of the mod, the Vault Rats Moments document will be updated too.

Thanks goes to Fazer for sending feedbacks and pointing out the bugs.

Great mod and really good writing skills
I would like to translate it for my french fellows, do you mind ?

No, not at all. Didn't expect to see it in the French so soon.

You need any help about it or you're already versed enough? Watch out for curly braces. Oh, and thanks for the compliments.

Well, it was the first time I was fiddling around with .DAT and fallout files so I had some hard time figuring all out but I'm a fast learner  Just finished some hours ago and it runs like a charm. I Still need to do some polishing for typos and turns of phrases though.

*SPOILER*

On a more literary note, I don't get the joke Todd is making about *shoot*. Did he mean "spit out what you have to say?" Or was it something else ? For the moment I translated it that way but I'm still not sure.

Oh, and I had a blast translating his compulsive swearing  just couldn't put away a mental image of him desperately trying to fight against it

*SPOILER*

Well yes, you got it right. Although it can be taken rather seriously (after his swearing), so one could start shooting right away (and there's the option in the dialogue to do so).

Greetings again lisac2k

Mmh, I encountered an untranslated line, the one you get in the display bottom left when you equip Little Boy. But I wasn't able to find it in any of the 'text' files. Could you indicate me where it is ?

Apart from this, no problem so far. I translated the readme and your credits too (I just added me as the translator for the french version with an e-mail to get feedback if needed). I polished some things here and there and once I can translate that small bit above, I think it will be set for the final release.

Oh, one last thing. Dunno if it is a bug as I have no coding skills whatsoever, but when you look at Pete with the binoculars icon his LVAR appears in the display bottom left together with his text description.

OK, thanks for reporting the LVAR bug. That's fixed now, as well as that missing text (you can find it in obj_dude.msg file).

It's OK to include your nick(name) and an email address in the credits, as you already stated, because of feedbacks and other issues. Hope the French audience will like it.

1.02 version released, fixes included (again, the link is in my sig).

Thanks for your help :salute:

Well, I hope they will like it too. Apart from the writing quality of your mod, what I really liked is how it is making points about the path the Fallout 3 production, and the gaming industry as a whole, is taking: in an humorous way. Nice alternate mean to ring a bell in peoples mind about it me thinks.

Right, that's the point of this whole huzza-wuzza-mod.

If only.

I got problems to run that mod, first i placed patch000.dat to Fallout2 directory, but its not work. Secon i unpack that patch and put files into "data" folder which put to F2 dir.. but it crash. Finally i changed proto files into "read only" and run it.

Things i like:
-floating conversation
-atom bomb bazooka
-unkilable child

It contain probably also other good stuff which i dont encounter (WC quest is still mysterious for me)

Hmmmm... Odd. Polish version of Fallout 2?

If you want to see and play through each and every detail of the game, you can find a more than helpful guide for it called "Vault Rats Moments" - the link to it is in my sig. Also, if you're interested in some of the scripts and/or mod features, there's the source.
