Fallout 2 resolution patch

Lexx's right. But NCR held out well.

It has an advantages, like being able to see some Fallout 1/2 eye-candies in the only screen...

...but also very annoying disadvantages.

Anyway, Mash is doing a tremendous job for the community. This kind of patch might be very useful one fine day. Also, some of the BGE maps would be insanely good in 1600x1200 (or "only" 800x600, which's far more real).

AWESOME. Just tried it and I'm happy. It runs with the unofficial expansion pack (...)

This means that this Resolution Patch works fine if applied after Unofficial Killap Patch?

It works just fine with both the unofficial patch and restoration pack.

Thank you Killap, for the reply and your Patch.

And thank you Mash for this Patch.

Now I'm thinking about playing Fallout 2 again, at least to see how this works...

Pardon my dumb, but how do I use it?
There's just a file called fallout2 with no extension that I can see and no readme.

Thanks.

Put a *.zip file extension on the end. Breaking news!! Timeslip has tweaked SFall so we can use his graphics filters with this also.

For someone with good PS skills shouldn't be a big problem to "expand" the art. Also you can create in 3d some elements and merge them with the art.

Some quick copy & paste in PS (without any tweaks):

Cool.

Have fun with adding tanker to the left. :D

This doesn't look so bad and it's not really a huge problem since there's only a few maps that small.
I'd take a small annoyance like this over gamekilling bugs any day.
Great job Mash! :)

I was having problems with this on Vista not working, and I discovered I had patched things incorrectly. After installing fresh and then applying killap's patch, then this, it worked great.

Changing to a custom resolution has me stumped, though. Right now it is defaulting to my screen resolution of 1680x1050, but I'd like to try 1280x800 instead. What exactly do I need to change to do this? Yes, I tried the readme, but I'm still a confused dummy. :?

I have Vista, and I never installed an official patch or an unofficial patch until I got to The Den, so I decided to nuke the install (har) and install the 1.05 unofficial patch. main menu shows 1.02 installed, which I would guess to be normal, and the game runs fine.

However when I installed this resolution patch, nothing is different. I know the install mentions a certain C++ patch that might be needed but it seems to be for older versions of Windows, not Vista. Anyone else get this to work in Vista, and if so, what patches/what have you do you have?

I'm running Vista myself , so I don't think it's the OS.
Just to confirm the patch is installed correctly rerun f2_res_patcher.exe. if it's already installed it should say "Patch already installed".
Other than that try setting AUTO_SCRN_SIZE to zero in the f2_res.ini.

Well, the readme does outline this, but I shall explain what needs to be done.

Open up f2_res.ini

Under the [SETTINGS] section of the file change

Code:
AUTO_SCRN_SIZE = 1
to
Code:
AUTO_SCRN_SIZE = 0

Next, find the [VARIABLES] section and look for

Code:
SCR_WIDTH = 800
SCR_HIGHT = 600

Change these two values to the resolution you want.

Sorry unthroned.
I really should have put "U.S. Version" in there somewhere.
At the time I thought 1.02d was specifically U.S. my mistake. :oops:
I was about to start looking into the other regional versions. I'll See what can be done.

i said it in the mods forum, but i'll say it again to make sure he hears it:

thank you mash, great fuckin' job! i am stoked as hell to give fo2 another run through (i'm actually having to chill myself out so i don't race through the end of my current yearly fo1 campaign right now).

so you're saying it doesn't even have to be in the original formfactor? that's fucking great news!

what was already awesome just became even more awesome ;)

Great mod! I will download it as soon as I can!

Do someone knows if it's possible to change the interface bar? I think that making it bigger would be pretty neat! Allowing, say, more space for text OR (Don't know if that is possible) maybe showing two weapons slots instead of one?

Also, I think some maps will have to be changed due to resolution, right? Particulary the entrance of the Enclave.
