i get the error
wmAreaInit:: Error Loading Cities!

im using wine in ubuntu, fallout 2 works just fine without the patch but when i install the patch i get that error.

I found a solution!

Set wine up to run in windows 98 mode, then install the mod (note, I had killapps unnofficial patch installed when I did this, also note: I have various winetricks going and run everything in windowed mode).

Game has been flawless since I did that with the exception of trainers not working, has anybody got them going on windows?

PS: *don't* use the advanced installer, caps sensitivity screws it up.

I'm assuming that I'm the only person that can't play the Primitive Tribe map, without the game crashing to a black screen. It's strange because I didn't encounter some previously mentioned bugs that everyone else was. I figure I'll try a reinstall of everything, since I'm the odd man out on Sulik's home. Still, I'd appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

Yeah try to reinstall. If it still don't work, upload your savegame so we can se if anything is wrong with that.

Damn you !!!! After installing 2c patch my savegames dont work anymore, wtf :(. I was already in Den and all. If theres no fix Im simply deleting F2. Cheers.

Sorry Im frustrated.

Check and make sure your savegame folder is in your data folder. No idea why it would have moved if all you did was apply a patch. Either you did something wrong, or your save's got corrupted somehow. Not like you're even an eigth of the way through the game. No reason to get all pissy and quit. And if you did, I'm sure no body cares to hear about it.

This is my Fallout RP 2.0 experience…

The game is acting in a strange manner…certain areas/maps are resetting their behavior after period of time. For instance I wacked Joey and his buddies in the Den to retrieve the gold locket…completed a few quests, etc, and hit the road. After exploring the world for a few game months I decided to return to the Den…guess who was there to greet me… Joey and his buddies, and they weren’t very happy. I wacked them again, etc. It is the same thing concerning the Toxic caves and Smiley. I rescued him, took back to Klamath, but his behavior wasn’t typical. He couldn’t teach me the Gecko skinning perk and Ardin Buckner didn’t recognize his rescue. So back to the Toxic caves to check the situation and guess what…the map has reset and I had to rescue Smiley all over again. It’s happened in Vault City as well.

This is the Groundhog Day version of Fallout 2…I quite like it. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had this issue in the vanilla version (German) when i was in "The Den" i killed all Jetties, then i left the map and then immediately returned...and...ouuupps... the scenery was like i never wacked them.... :wall:

I killed Kaga at least 3 times (now I can' t sleep anymore, fearing is next return from the afterlife)... And a third Morton Brother, but I never had trouble in non-random encounters...

I should be more specific in saying that its a Microsoft C++ Runtime error that occurs when adjusting in-game resolution.

Something amazing happened when I reinstalled..

First off, none of my savegames will work, Fallout crashes to a black screen. Also, when adjusting the resolution in the options menu, the game will randomly decide that it wants to shutdown.

The resolution I can learn to live with. Is there a trick to getting old saves to work?

Where are the savegames from? Theres a lot of saves that won't work with RP2.0

Yeah I'm dumb, didn't double check my folder. However, Fallout 2 will indeed show your saves in the correct save slot, even if you accidentally put them in the wrong folder. Who knew?

Alrighty, chaps. After a reinstall/repatch or my game, Primitive Tribe is still on the rocks. Here's a savegame if anyone can figure it out.

[spoiler:4c2ec91305]You'll start off in Redding, but go to the slaver camp and talk to Sulik's sister to escort her home (the slavers are dead).[/spoiler:4c2ec91305]

Also, about the EPA black map bug - has anyone found a work-around for this, since apparently only a few people get it?

I'm running Vista and installed only the RP without any additionnal mods on a new F2 humongous installation.

I got this bug when I go for the first time to EPA. It was after I beat the game. And I wandered on EPA world location before knowing where it is located. Maybe that could have cause the bug ?

You NEED to install the High-Res patch for the EPA map to work. That is your problem.

So I've reinstalled Fallout, and the RP. I installed the newest (2.0.2d) fix. And I still can't access the Den. Every time I try and enter the town, I receive an error: "The instruction at 0048d9c4 referenced memory at 0000001a The memory could not be read from".

Please, for the love of Fallout, somebody figure out what I've done wrong here.

maybe it's me being a noobs

but when I sell something they never give me my money

seriously, I just sold 900 coins worth of stuff and it doesn't showup in my inventory or anywhere

???????

what am I doing wrong or is it because I applied the RP to a patched game?

If you have patch0000.dat in your fallout directory delete it. You're not suppose to apply any extra patches before installing RP, but it shouldn't really affect anything as long as you followed directions and haven't installed any patches over it.

When trading you have to manually specify everything that you want in return. This means that if you want coins for your stuff, go into the inventory of the trader and select the amount you want. If you don't specify anything, it will be as if you just gave those things away and no, the trader will not warn you about this :)

F2 - 2.0.2.d
Klamath - I agreed to Kill "Keeng Ra'at", received key from Slim Picket, but in PIP there is no quest. - I remember that once when I agree solve rat problem it appears in PIP. Thats normal?

First of all I wish to thank Killap and the people who contributed to the rp 2.0 for their effort. You have made a great game even better!

I've encountered a few bugs and oversights during my playthrough.

1. When fighting with Cameron in the temple of trials, there was no damage displayed when Cameron scored a hit. Although hit points were subtracted as normal (when I scored a hit, it was displayed properly)
I've made a little screen of this problem:
cameronhit.png

2. A few Broken Hill bugs that have been pointed out by others:

Marcus will join you on your first encounter with him, even when your party is full, and you haven't completed any quests.

The quest for the missing people is broken. Although Francis is fixed by a quick patch. I think (though I have no modding experience) this has to do with the game not registering that the player actually found the missing people. In previous versions a message would be displayed once you were in a certain proximity of the dead bodies, and consequently be rewarded with 500xp(I think). No message is displayed, hence you can only inform Marcus that you actually found tunnels but no dead bodies, and you can't inform Dan the worried spouse of his wife's death.

3. Sierra Army Depot:
The traps in front of the building which contains the working howitzer are not visible. I've boosted my perception with mentats to 10, and they simply do not show. They are there though, as Sulik disarmed them the hard way. All other traps are working fine, even the tripwire :-).

4. A few minor typo's, I found more but can't remember them :P

When reading about the GECK in the abbey's computer:
typo1.png

'surly' should be 'surely'
typo2.png

'through' should be 'though'

Also: to read the full text you sometimes get the option to 'read more' and in some cases it states [MORE] (might be intentional)

5. Cassidy cannot wield any melee weapon when wearing combat armor. Probably because there are no animations for him?

6. When reloading a save that was made during combat, all enemies become invulnerable. But I guess that serves me right for trying to cheat :P

I've used a humongous install, rp2.0 and patch 2.0.2d. OS is Vista Ultimate

After confronting Francis about the bodies in the tunnels, the game crashes. Could be WINE specific, can anybody confirm this on windows?
