hm I seem to be having an issue installing..

it's probably something silly though XD

anyways, I have vista(I ran it as administrator) fallout 2 is under humongous installation. The problem is when I try to select the fallout 2 installation directory it still says I need to select the fallout 2 installation directory, even thought it's in it! before it says that, it says there's a folder already here, continue? I click yes and assume it's just going to merge, which I don't think is a problem. I tried putting it in a different folder, putting it in the folder just outside of the fallout 2 folder but nothing is working, keeps saying I need to install in fallout 2 directory :crazy:

edit: pardon me if this has been answered, I DID skim through the pages before in this thread to check if it had, but could have missed it

edit2:It would seem that when I uninstalled RP/UP 1.2 It removed a lot more then it should have..so I'll just manually install them and hope it works(my f2 disks are missing D:)
 
Game killer bug: I've now tried five times to enter the Den; each time, the game crashes with a 'memory cannot be read from' error. Any ideas? Is there a normal workaround? Windows 7 x86, full install Fallout 2, install of RP 2.0. Haven't installed the hotfix, but the changelog includes nothing on this.
 
guys, i tried to get cassidy to put away his leather armour when i got him into my party... but leaving dialog.. cassidy DISAPPEARED!!!.. i had to reload.

kudos killap+others.. so far, i see more nice details like turret moving, lynette monitors, more colourful rugs? pots?, little girls in den, getting a knife from horrigan encounter...

surprisingly no kaga so far.. and getting empty encounter in the desert like twice per PIP-hour/day.. anoonying but safe.. imagine from aroyyo to vc.. out of 30 encounter, i get 5 lootable encounter,, anyone also getting the same thing?

i am running in vista, st5,pe6,en6,ch6,in9,ag9,lk6 +gifted +finesse..
long hair dude is abit jerky when running, do u guys feel the same?

I do not know if this has anything to do with the problems you're encountering but, what is this "UP" that you are referring to? Is it the unofficial patch? If that is the case, you do not need to install the patch (Unofficial Patch) prior to installing the RP. It is already in there. :-)

I'm using Win7 x64 and I did get that weird .dat bug during install but the game itself seems to be working alright.

I did, however, have a few completely random crashes in the Toxic Caves.

Also, I did the orphanage quest for Mom in The Den, left to get Smiley, came back a few weeks later and all the kids were gone, which obviously is what I expected. The problem is the orphanage wasn't vacated by the squatters (I did the convince them to help path) nor was it done. Also, Mom starts her conversation by saying "Error" now and the little kid and his dad are nowhere to be found. Halp?

thanks, I was just about to ask if it was already included, and it worked, The only things it removed is the uninstaller and the exe, don't know why those were removed, but I can uninstall from control panal and RP of course has a exe you need to use anyways

now to play until my eyes smart :mrgreen:

If this version works the same as before, you either still have the patch000.dat or you have lost some of your proto files. Check to see if they are read-only.

I'm downloading 2.0 now, and pondering what kind of character to use -- I think I'm gonna use a standard one first, just to breeze through to the new EPA and stuff (and junk).

Can you point me to an example of what you are talking about? There is a chance I just missed this and thus never got around to including them.

I don't think that means the installation fails. I think the dat program is just doing some check.
I have English Vista and the same thing happens to me, yet Cassidy and the new NPCs still work.

At least they did in the old beta I tested quite some time ago.
Wait, you say you got that same message that non English Windows users are seeing? Perhaps this is something Vista/7 does. Hmm, well as long as you say it does what it did (Cassidy works, etc), everyone can just ignore those messages that come up.

is this a bug or exploit? i still can steal from locked desk.. without the need to lockpick...

after i steal all stuff, i still lockppick it for that measly 25xp.. haha.. stealing and reloading is easier to lvl up than go exploring the wastelands.. at lvl5, i still get alot of empty (no critter) encounters from arroyo to vault city.. still no kaga yet.. fixed gecko..

btw, all these no critter encounter, is it normal? my outdoorsman is 40% at easy and 10% at hard... my stats lst5,pe6,en6,ch6,in9,ag9,lk6 +gifted +finesse..
at lvl5now, with sulik, cassiddy & lenny..

Can be considered both. It's not specific to the RP though. Please provide locations where this happens.

Please start making use of the Fallout 2 RP technical wiki to keep track of bugs. It is no fun to sift through all these pages to find bug reports.

@Szadou what's up with save game slot 110? (that's a big number) ;) Easy issue to fix though. Thought I fixed this in the beta runs...Damn regressions...



Another "emergency" update should be up in a few hours. There weren't that many rugs to fix (I still might have missed some) and a few other minor issues were addressed.

Don't expect millions of updates like this. These were just same day updates to address blatant issues that EVERYONE will see. A larger update will come later, after a few weeks, to address all kinds of issues. There might still be a small update here and there to address game breaking issues, if there are any.
 
Killap, there's a lot of shoot through issues on the epax entrance map.
Wall st blockers have been used instead of ordinary wall blockers.
Basically they need to be replaced or have their flags changed.

Also, may I ask why the changes to the solar scorcher?
I am not amused!
No using at nighttime and that stupid message, about needing 999 AP to use it. :naughty:

How do I turn it back to normal?

Just making use of the fact that the High-Res patch adds like a hundred (or is it more?) save slots. Didn't know it did that, then again the last version I used was the one that was included with RP 1.2, so yeah.

Also, slot 110 is because it's, slot 10 on page 2, that's just how the high res patch numbers 'em if I'm not mistaken.
 
Wouldn't it have been more safe to release this like a Release Candidate(RC)? I mean, you don't have time and enough hardware to test everything, and to make the 2.0 release as clean as possible, an RC would've helped to track the bugs like you're doing now.

Still, this could be just a naming issue, and nothing to ponder about.

Anyway, incredible job and thanks to the RP team. I've been playing for an hour or too, and my memory isn't fresh from the last time I played Fallout 2, but I noticed the new stuff. New props, animated fire barrels, and other stuff I won't mention for not spoiling. I was impressed that passing to a 16 bit screen didn't corrupt the original colors, I don't really know how did you solve it.

Cheers for the release Killap, some bug-hunting days await you, and in no better moment than Easter :D.

There will be map issues with all that has changed in the enhanced map pack. Please make a list of them all.

Uh, but that is what the solar scorcher is supposed to be! It uses the sun as ammo - how can it work at night? (unless we assume it stores the "ammo" it collected during the day. But even then it would run out) Also, that message is just a way to prevent use at night. No real clean way to do it...

However, if you don't like it, remove glsolar.int from the scripts directory.

Yeah, probably. And you think I would have learned from last time....oh well, that is what happens when you get pressured into releasing asap. ;)

EDIT:
DAMNIT! Nasty bug found with Cassidy and the npc armor mod. If you tell him to remove his armor (and walk around with nothing) he will disappear. I'm sick of things previous working and then later not.... This will be part of the upcoming "emergency 2" update.

Thanks for the new version, and even more importantly, thank you for your quick responses to the various bug reports that people have been posting. I probably won't get a chance to install RP2.0 for a few days, and I definitely appreciate that you're able to so quickly work through some of the bugs that are being found now.

As others have said, I really appreciate all of the hard work you have put into this (same goes for others who have contributed to the project). I can't wait to play it, but unfortunately, real life gets in the way of gaming time. :)

Well I'm no expert in electronics but storing energy is what capacitors do, isn't it? So yes in daylight the get charged constantly (that's why there is no AP for reloading), but at nighttime they can't recharge and therefore you only get six shots. Oh well, you've got more pressing issues...

Thanks. The solar scorcher has always been a favorite of mine.
