Fallout 3: Are you getting it?

no[--x---------------------]yes

It won't be epic and more of a linear shooter than a full fledged RPG.
At least that's what I heared.
So far I can't stand Bethesda games. Oblivion was a joke and I don't like the general console feel of their games.

well i got it because i wanted to get it....
why cause its fallout.....i know it won't be good
but its still the wasteland and it calls to me.....

Pointless thread is pointless. New question: how many here will not have their decision whether to buy the game influenced by reviews, gaming media or otherwise?

I never listen to what game reviewers say about games. I find out first hand what a game is like.

The only time I have listened to other individuals' opinions is here at NMA. It was here where I learned about Planescape, Arcanum, Vampire, TOEE. They were liked by the users here, so I gave them a try.

I'll be getting it, but pretending the entire time that it isn't Fallout. Some of my complaints about Oblivion have been fixed, so hopefully I can enjoy the game. And I'm not downloading mods until after I beat the game. I've had too many games ruined by installing mods that take away from the core experience. I'll only install bug fixing mods and things like that until I beat it.

I liked The Darkness and such despite oh so reviews and media. As an example. That and Bubble Bobble. Yes.

Seriously. I will more than likely end up renting FO3 over a weekend or something and then just return it. (I would say PC but yeah, kinda lacking in that area these days)

I also enjoyed The Darkness, mostly because there aren't enough games where heart eating is a prominent factor.

Also anyone who hates on Bubble Bobble doesn't realize how Gangsta that shit be.

Is it scary that I read that as todd might get it NAILED to him with an angry letter? Cause that's some SERIOUS criticism.

Now thats an idea! :P

I don't plan on buying it.
As Howard said "We do what we're best at", and that means it will be somewhat near Oblivion or even Morrorwind. And even while i liked the later, i didn't and wouldn't have bought it as a full-price title (bought some GOTY-Edition with both Addons).
But if i sometime would be able to get it for a low prize, after i got to play it for some time, i might buy it. But not soon it think.

Definitely getting it, but I'm not getting my hopes up at all. Very fond of the isometric style, the combat system and the general gameplay, and none of those have hit the spot with me in Morrowind or Oblivion, just hoping FO3 has been improved in those respects.

The Darkness was short as hell.
In fact, that reminds me, why were people bitching about The Darkness' short playtime when COD4 was like three freaking hours.

Who the hell pays $60 for that?

No, or not soon anyways, because currently I don't see any reason to upgrade my PC or get a HD console, since most new games don't really interest me and seem to be very overhyped and overrated. There's a chance I might pick up a PS3 when the epic FFXIII finally gets released, but that'll be in 2010, so maybe then I'll get FO3.

me either. and also i'll wait till killap (or somebody else) makes it better - i'm lookin forward to mods even more than the game itself :)

I`m definelty buying the 360 version..
Then after playing it for about an hour or so, I`ll be cursing the gods, before finally realizing I should do what I knew I should have done all along (selling my grandmother so I can afford a top of the line pc )

There is little doubt in my mind that F3 will fail terribly as a fallout game, but in the hands of ingenious modders it will be turned into something we can all love :D

Will I be influenced by reviews etc? Nope, I can tell what this game is and isn't already. My interest in it as a Fallout RPG went out the window when I learned there was no text box.

Will I buy it? No, I'll play it out of morbid curiosity though

To those who say there pissed off that it's not Fallout but are planning to buy it anyway - C'mon! your money is the only influence you'll ever have on game design if you're not a designer. Boycott i say ! ;) Money to bethesda = "I wan't more bethesda Fallout"

The only positive (and this is as much a negative to most of you from what I gather) that I can see from fallout 3 being a success is that it will almost guarantee IPLY's FOMMO to get financing. A game I've been dreaming about since I played FO2.

I'd like to see what other people think of the game before I spend $50-60 on it but I'll probably buy it no matter what to see how good or bad it is in comparison to the previous Fallouts.
