Fallout 3: Are you getting it?

I have $60 gift card, so I'll get it. I'm more excited to witness how they construct DC and the fact that my neighborhood will be in the game than anything else. The one thing Bethesda has said accurately is that DC is pretty underrepresented in a lot of games. But of course I'm not objective in that department.

Does it have level scaling like Oblivion? Fast Travel? I hope not.

Does it have a Fallout take on alchemy? I haven't seen anything regarding that.

Ugh...

Will it be a bad game? Not likely. Will it be a pitiful console-style excuse for a good RPG? Yes, most likely. And while I might even enjoy playing it, most likely it will be too plain and easy because it was made for the "average"(perceived) XBOX gamer with IQ<80 Forget huge dialogue trees and quests that make you think, it's "outdated". Bring in OMG GRAFIX.

Had this tid-bit to add from another post.

Picked it up, and as a long time FO fan, I'm enjoying it for what it is. It's a great deal of fun, period. I will say that most of the atmosphere from the two previous titles is there, which is really nice, and quite visually haunting at times, something I don't think could have been accomplished with another "isometric" sequel. Is it a worthy successor to the FO franchise? Certainly not. I say at-least pick it up and play it a bit, or find a copy elsewhere to get an idea of what you're getting into before you buy.

As to the PS3 issue, appearantly you're not alone. For those that can get it too run on their PS3, numerious graphical and AI issues seem to be arrising. I'd suggesting reading the GameSpot review and proceeding to the second page that details said issues (PS3).

Sigh, well at least I know what I'm going into, considering I've played whole PC games at 15-20 frames, at least I'm somewhat prepared. Then again a lot of those problems, just remind me of the normal graphics stuff I would expect on a PC. I would get the PC version, but there is no hope I could run.

I appreciate the advance info though.

Also after watching 2019 After the Fall of New York, I just have to play some PA. :)

Well that was easy!

As much as I am a fan of the old games, and really didn't like the look of the new Fablibivion, I had to get it. I have to support the franchise, because as much as I might not like the new game, it could improve in the next generation.

Don't get me wrong, I'm waiting for Project V13, Diablo 3 and whatever Carbine is working on, but I've gotta have faith in Fallout in order for the franchise to continue, so I decided I'd purchase the game when I could.

I was at Circuit City checking out computers (my current rig is 4 years old) and to my surprise, there was a whole shelf full of Fallout 3.

I thought with all the news its been getting that I'd have to wait for a few weeks to pick it up.

Is anyone having difficulty getting a copy?

There won't be any difficulty; Bethsoft has to make sure copies are available, everywhere, or they'll lose massive amounts of money. So "difficulty?" Nope.

Also: "I'm going to buy *a* Fallout game so they make a *good* Fallout game" is exactly the kind of thinking that killed off the Van Buren project. Iplay told their customers to buy that awful "game" Brotherhood of Steel so Iplay could finish the VB project. How'd that turn out again? .... Oh right.

Let's keep the "I'll be getting Fallout 3", "I'm in the process of getting Fallout 3" and "I got Fallout 3" posts in one thread.

Me and the brother are stomping through it right now .

I'm doing good guy, he's doing bad guy.

I just found a Fatman round in the back of Super-Duper Mart.

I'll leave it up to you whether that's a good thing or not.

Playing it as we speak, it's okay, I'm playing as more of a good character, and I also found that fatman round in the back of the supermarket, but have yet to find the launcher itself.

Anyhow, I do like the stuff in the collecters edition, the Vault-Tec lunchbox, the Vault-Boy bobblehead, and the artbook. The "making of" dvd is pretty boring, just alot of todd howard talking about crap.

I am most likely good to get it. But thanks to the flaws, I have to evaluate how much I am willing to pay for it.

Edit: I evaluated it: below 20 Euros. Thanks e.g. to normal outfits that increase AG and EN and some missing weapons, but hopefully the missing weapons are in the game, but yet not found.
