Here's the press release on the DLC retail editions (which will not be available for PS3), the DLCs coming to PS3 and a GotY edition (which will include the DLCs for PS3) of Fallout 3.
Bethesda Softworks Europe Announces Plans for Additional Downloadable Content for Fallout 3 on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3
19th May, 2009 - Bethesda Softworks Europe is today pleased to announce that Fallout® 3 downloadable content (DLC) is coming to PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. We have been working on implementing it for a while and look forward to bringing it to PS3 gamers via the PlayStation Network. Operation: Anchorage will be released for PS3 in late June, followed by the release of The Pitt and Broken Steel 4-6 weeks apart. Release dates will be forthcoming.

In addition, a new update will be released for PS3 that will allow users to download and play the new DLC. The release date for that update will be announced at a later date.

There are also two new DLCs planned for all three platforms:

• Point Lookout – Explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content.
• Mothership Zeta – The aliens have returned, and they’re pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you’re tough enough to survive.

Point Lookout will be available in late June for Xbox 360 and PC. Cost will be 800 Microsoft Points. It will be available through Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live. Point Lookout will be available on PS3 after the first three DLCs have been released.

Mothership Zeta is scheduled for release in late July for Xbox 360 and PC. Cost will be 800 Microsoft Points. It will be available through Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live. Mothership Zeta will be available on PS3 after Point Lookout.

Finally, new Fallout 3 products will be available at retail this year.

Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #1 includes The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage on a disc and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC on June 12th across Europe.

Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #2 includes Broken Steel and Point Lookout on a disc and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC in August across Europe.

A Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition will be available in October. It will include the original game plus all five add-ons for £39.99 / €59.99 for Xbox 360 and PS3, and £29.99 / €49.99 for PC.

Retail versions of the game add-on packs for PS3 will not be available and the DLC will only be available for download via PlayStation Network or with the Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition.

Wow, just wow.

Bout damn time for the PS3 users. I'm PC myself but microsoft's dealings with making dlc 360 only have even started annoying the hell out of me.

As for the new DLC.
1. Ok...does this mean hillbillys?

2. Wow that's random. But a nice idea. Fallout 3 lacked some of the rare random sillyness of Fallout 1 and 2. What I'd like to see is dlc that gives us back romance and sex to the fallout universe.
What happened to all the whores and why can't you have a relationship?

The rape never stops. Seriously.. Aliens? Alien abductions?

I'm so glad these guys got the franchise, they really liked the first two, and are excellent at making RPGs. Just ask them, they'll tell you!

Looks like bethesda is trying to reach the halo 3 audience with that mothership zeta dlc.

I... I don't... What.

What the everloving fuck.

The aliens have returned? Their initial existence was just an easter egg.

Given that Mothership Zeta is not included in the 2nd pack, it probably means that there will be even more coming, to come out on a DVD with it.

Or maybe they realise it's a ridiculously stupid idea, and will put it in a separate pack. Fallout 3: Stupid Shit. Together with Dogmeat armor and a controllable Liberty Prime. And a mininuke-gattling laser gun

mininuke-gattling laser gun

Mind blown.

Heh, I felt so up in arms about Fallout before the release of Fallout 3. Now there is just a sort of quiet acceptance that yes, Bethesda will take this franchise further and further into the wonderful land of stupid with each release.

Bring it on Bethesda!

I have to keep telling myself:

"its just a game, its just a game, its just a game..."

Because in all honesty I am actually REALLY pissed off right now. I know I shouldn't be, but I am and I can't help it.

May 12 2009 OXM Interview with Pete Hines:

And is Broken Steel the last DLC for Fallout 3?

Yes, that's the third of the three things. Whether it's the absolute last one remains to be seen. Because it's been hugely successful. Operation Anchorage vastly exceeded our expectation. It was like "holy shit, we did how many?" And the Pitt was really successful, after a bit of a false start.

--------

Ok the first sentence in that is kind of skirting around a direct answer "its the third of three things" is ambiguous but close to saying yes. However the next sentence is the kicker "Remains to be seen." either pete hines is a outright fucking LIAR or Bethesda got these idea put together and handled the business side of the deal all within 7 days. The story part I can believe only took half of that, but the business dealings had to have been in the works when that interview was done.

That's a quote from OXM, so lord knows when the interview actually took place. It seems that it was conducted around the release of BS, perhaps even before that.

But I'm sure they had some idea. I'm sure they had some idea that they were going to release mod tools before those were announced. It's likely that they decided to go ahead with these projects after gauging the demand for Broken Steel. It's just PR, not anything to get upset about. If they were interested in giving unfiltered answers to any question, then Hines wouldn't have a job. And as a consumer, it's more important to be aware of actual business moves rather than every potential business move.

maybe the hubologists will return for us to slaughter our way through again or maybe Juan Cruz and Vikki Goldman will be in a stasis tube on the space ship, that we can space!!!!! then the vault dweller can battle Hubologists and aliens. Wow aliens its so original!!!

They did the same thing when leaks about Shivering Isles started to appear.
