Fallout 3: How much do you want it?

It Wandered In From the Wastes
OK, there has been talk of the Fallout-3 for over five years now. It seems that the Fallout fans are getting their chain jerked by the game developers. The usual excuse is marketing and economics. I chanced to look at the NMA member list and saw 10,600 registered users, so I got curious to see how big the Fallout fan community and how much money is out there for the next CRPG in the Fallout saga. As point of comparison, price in the US for Baldur's Gate when it first came out was $78.00 USD. If every registered NMA participant paid $100.00 USD, there would be $1,060,000.00 USD for the next Fallout game. I realise that not everybody lives in the US, but still with Euro being about the same in value as a Dollar, it will serve a good purpose to see how much money is out there for the next traditional Fallout CRPG.

So, all you glittering gems of rage out there, how badly do you want to see Fallout-3??? Post here just once and give your best estimate of two figures in the US Dollar equivalent: One, how much you would be comfortable spending on the Fallout 3, and two, what's the most you'd be willing to spend if such game ever appeared on the market. Be honest for accuracy's sake. I got a decent job living in the US with no obligations or responsibilities. Other people may live in other countries and have families to feed, and spending
$5.00 USD on a game might be a big deal. Thats cool. Every drop counts, just be real. Add your amount to the Min-Max totals at the bottom of your post.

So, here I go:
I would spend on F3 - Right Off The Bat - $100.00
Max I could contribute - $ 500.00

Totals: Min - $100.00 Max - $500.00

um im sure there are way more fallout fans out there than can be counted on this site alone.

I cant quite remember but wasnt Interplays estimate something like 300,000?

And I am very unlikely to pay Bethesda for a fallout game even if it is good (for all their evil ways)

But I'd go to any length for a good cRPG, my mind wouldn't flutter at anything less than $100 US

I very much think there is a thread for this already... Anyway, I could contribute with 50€. No more... A regular version, I mean, because I could pay up to 100€ for a collector's edition.

Forget Bethesda for the moment, Goweigus. Assume (purely theoretically) that F3 would be done by people, who understand Fallout setting, specifically for Fallout fans and for nobody else. How deep would your pockets be for something like that?

Around 50€. That'd be the normal price for a new PC game. Why should I pay more for a computer game, even though it'd be Fallout 3?

Of course, I'd pay some extra for a collector's edition with a bunch of neat stuff, like a t-shirt that has a crappy Fallout print that comes off after a few washes.

50€, as any new PC game. I would only buy a collector's edition if it was really, really awesome (like, have both FO1 and 2 with paper manuals), which it probably won't be.

Probably?! Well, unless they buy the rights from obsidian, it certainly won't include them.

FO1 and FO2's rights are obsidian's right?

Erm, I was being sarcastic. It was a way to say that I wouldn't buy a collector's edition.

I really couldn't see myself paying more than $100 for any game; unless there was something packaged with the game, a quality controller for example.

While that only works out to €75.5, it seems that games are cheaper in the US. At least by going on this thread, since I have no knowledge of the European PC game market. New games are priced between $40 and $60, or €30 and €45.

It feels like this thread should have a poll attached.

it depends, PC-DVD games are between 25 and 55 euros usually, depending on many factors.

If F3 were done right I'd easily pay $100 for it or to put it another way I'd be more than happy to give up buying 3-4 decent games for just F3.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Considering I spent over $200 on World of Warcraft (doesn't that look stupid now) I'd probably spend at least that much to get an amazing moddable Fallout game.
