In case you're interested in the Fallout 3 launch party for some reason, Joystiq attended it an writes up on the experience. Entertainment Weekly has a bit on Dave Grohl almost dedicating a song to Sarah Palin. And OMG Yahoo! has some photos of celebrities in attendance.

What does any of this actually have to do with Fallout 3? Zilch.

You forget, MrB, some people are excited about this game.

I think everybody's excited about the game for well... various reasons and with different feelings.

I don't really know what to say about this whole deal except that it's just so very very strange.

We ran into both Geoff Keighly of GameTrailers TV and Kevin Pereira of Attack of the Show who both said it was a truly bizarre, albeit fun, party.

After reading this comment, I couldn't help but instantly think, "Eyes Wide Shut," with candle lighting, huge bodyguards tossing out cameramen and game wenches dressed in leather strapped costumes surrounding a half-bombed Pete Hines. :D Just imagine Todd hitting on Courtney Cox dressed in a robe and feathered mask...lol... Wait...now I'm disturbed...

Todd: "Steel be with you, baby." (wink, wink)
Courtney: "Who the hell is talking to me?" (looks down) "Oh."

I also thought the hipster quotes were both funny and very depressing at the same time.

Yeah I keep getting the feeling that we are the fucked-up bizarro-world alternate universe to a normal world with a robust RPG scene - Black Isle is still at it, Troika is solvent and Warren Spector shits out gold plated DVDs. Meanwhile, Todd works in a comic shop and Hines is manager at a used car lot.

Metallica is also still good in that universe.

I sometimes dream of the idea of looking through the stuff at a garage sale and finding a strange remote.
I pick it up and fiddle with it, suddenly opening a tear in space/time, a quantum portal that leads to all possible universes and alternate timelines.

After having gone through this portal I discover a world where my mom was never ruined and were Fallout 3/Van Buren and Fallout 4 were released by Interplay which was never bought by Herve as he never went into the gaming industry.

who could have pictured this scene 10 years ago....

It looks like the game industry, mostly due to the amount of money it takes to be maintained these days, is turning into the next movie industry. We're going to see more and more things in the vain of "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" only in the form of games, with backers like Bruckheimer and other much worse individuals. Luckily, the movie industry still has cool companies/directors/etc. as well as independent producers, directors and writers that manage to keep up and contribute, preventing everything that pops up in the theater or on video from being complete cookie-cutter trash. This should be the same when gaming hits that point. If it was still possible to produce the next big game out of your garage, it'd be a much different and more positive story. Let's just hope there are still those who want to make the next "Indiana Jones," "Goonies" or "Back to the Future" style blockbuster, and not just "Spider-Man 17".

That's one of the good things about the game ~ since I like the new BoS PA better than the original BoS PA, which I did not like.

I like and dislike the new PA.

The problem I have with it, is that although it looks cool, it looks 2008 cool, rather than 1950s stylish.
