I agree with your assessment of the lore, but what I'm saying is that the described kind of real-life optimism has much more to do with "pseudo" than with "retro". From my understanding, there was a lot of optimism in the U.S. back in the 50s, but very little of it came from the conception "that in a nuclear disaster you could just get under your desk." It's a minor mistake, I know, but it looks like Todd is just full of them. Makes me wonder if the man is capable of getting anything right at all.
