A bit offtopic but about the supermutants, is anyone else thinking that if (big if) those supermutant have come from china and are indeed originally chinese thatd explain their somewhat different outlook, to some point at least.

:D :D
So i guess its been discussed previously, or did you make it ?

@Per: Yeah i suppose itd be weird to all off the supermutants to have been same ethnicity originally in older fallouts, just that i allways pictured supermutants having variation in their physique and they allways looked the same(ingame) because of the big amount of work just to make different kinds of supermutant models with just graphical differences.

On the other hand though there were those talking heads and these new supermutants dont seem to have that big differences in their looks when compared to eachother either so i guess the persons looks that gets dipped doesnt really matter then.

He's saying that the pop culture references weren't "canon", so they're out. Though the bobbleheads are teetering dangerously close to Easter egg territory, so...not sure why Pete has a bug up his ass about the Monty Python references and such. In the end it doesn't really affect the game one way or the other, though.

Fuck off.

The overload of easter eggs with no relevance to the setting were one of the most-derided elements in Fallout 2. If Bethesda wants to get rid of that shit, more power to them.

Jesus H. Christ, people, not everything they say or do is bad.

Normal supermutants being green and Chinese ones being yellow would cause a shitstorm of accusations of racism. So...no.

ok, so now that we get confirmation on the sex thing (that it's indeed in), no one cares about it anymore?

regarding pop-culture references, I think I'm happier with them out. even though I loved them in Fallout 2 and consider them a big part of what made that game great. if they put it in I could see it going two ways: either they'd use a lot of the old stuff, which would just be stupid and we would all complain about them not using their imagination. or they'd use actual pop-culture from today, which means we'd probably run into the Haiducii guy, the Star Wars guy and the dramatic gopher somewhere in the wasteland. and would we really want that? no thanks.

Perhaps predictably with my like of slutting my way through RPGs, I picked the Lady’s Man perk which was soon put to work on a working girl. To get extra information. A little extra information I like to call “Sex”.

Actually, just extra information.
Looks more like a joke to me.

Seems someone snipped away that last line in this news post.
Perhaps with some diabolical ulterior motive.
While twirling his moustache.

More like because we prefer not to quote more than absolutely necessary.

Though the cut here is a bit unfortunate. Fixed.

Blame Per. He did it.

PS: we quote with the assumption that if the bits of information interest you, you will read them in context to see what he's saying. It disappoints me every time to see you guys just harp on our quotes as if they're the whole article.

You're a racist for saying Chinese are yellow now?

This shit has gone too far.

“No fucking way. Absolutely not. With our experience on RPGs like Elder Scrolls, things like Lore and Canon we hold very dear."

Really because according to all TES fans I know they shat all over the lore. Also mutants in the east hundreds of years later? Enclave still alive and well? I'll need to see some more evidence before I label him anything but a disingenuous prick.

Absolutely true of the 'new Bethesda'. Now they just throw in stupid nonsensical shit to cover for stupid and lazy game design.

Well, the Great War was in 2077. The Master began producing supermutants around 2137. There are still supermutants when Fallout 2 begins (2241) and when it ends (as early as 2241 but 2254 at the latest). It's just part of Fallout canon that, in general, supermutants have great longevity. FO3 apparently begins in 2277.

I guess it's plausible, but it really just reeks of Bethesda no longer having the creativity to come up with their own thing, so instead they're just shoehorning in some west coast groups so they can say "Look! It has those groups from FO1 and 2, so that's cool, right?!" :?

I think the idea that certain social/political/military movements can start, grow, and eventually be destroyed or fade into insignificance is lost on Bethesda. I think they prefer how Oblivion handles things - as factions. Their factions are immortal and while certain factions may be natural enemies they never completely destroy each other, they just provide quests against each other.

How 'bout you fuck off instead? I'm saying I don't really give a shit about the easter eggs one way or another, in case that wasn't clear from my previous post. I just found Pete's response of "NO FUCKING WAY, IT'S NOT CANON" amusing, that's all.
