Ah god damnit! why did I click that spoiler !? I need to learn to be more careful!

Um... it looks a bit hominid with that head, like someone did a makeup job on Aradesh. Chameleons don't have drooping jaws. Don't Fo1-2 deathclaws have flattish heads?

The in-game deathclaw in FO1 was closely based on this one:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Deathclaw2.jpg

But the FO1 manual also has this one, which is quite different:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Deathclaw.jpg

So it's not as if the FO3 one is more different from the original clay (and in-game) model than the one in the very FO1 manual is.

Ok, now I'm obsessing I need to find this [spoiler:1f7431362c]screenshot of Harold in FO3[/spoiler:1f7431362c] anyone know where I can find it?

The head doesn't look like it should but overall it doesn't look bad. Except for the weird skin. At least the proportions seem right. We'll have to wait to see if the animations are good enough.

Thanks for the pic.

If I saw this out of context I would probably think something more along the lines of Diablo than Fallout. The deathclaws are something very difficult to make (along with power armor) because it is very difficult to see the anatomy of a deathclaw from in game sprites. Also, concept art and clay models are all different from one another in some way. I had hoped Beth saved deathclaws to surprise us when the game is released, but I am disappointed.

Edit: Ausir has good examples of what I am talking about ^^

that's the only deathclaw model I give a mutated pigrat's a$$ about... perhaps its not that different from the FO3 model.... as I said, its just that I had this mental picture of deathclaws... and its been shattered... to a thousand pieces... and every single little piece was then micturated upon... by a leper Diplodocus... who also happened to have... erm, well ye get the idea.

The manual picture is harder to make out, but it doesn't look too different.

The placement of the eyes (in the front vs. on the sides) and nose is very different, as are the horns (forward-facing vs. backwards facing).

FO3 deathclaw looks like an exclusive shot from "Hellboy 3: Anorexic Menace".

Doesn't mean it's bad... just amusing.

I got to say, Christine Young looks very good compared to other human models. The woman her right reminds me of an aging Tandi (who smokes like that, though?), the one behind her has a very generic and bland face, almost as if she was made from the default model in the character creation screen.

The Yao Guai doesn't look as scary and vicious as the sketch made it out to be, unfortunately. But maybe that's just coming from the green vest?

The Robot looks neat. The other screenshots are so-so.
Beth definitely tried to make Tenpenny to look very old, but his wrinkled up face just looks odd. The low res textures are ugly too. What also strikes me is this ugly default-hand model. It seems all their "care to detail" went into Tenpenny's face, and when that was done they forgot to make his hands look old. Cherry looks odd as well, wonderful job on the nightgown though.

I really, really like the scanned page, the pimp, the outside screenshot and the brahmin look all great. That Deathclaw though is fantastic. I've always imagined them to look like the clay model, instead of the more deeper-brown skin/furry look in FO1/2. I just wish I could be sure the animations will be just as great as the model.

What's that minigun wielding gimp doing in fallout, though?

after having more time to digest [spoiler:fe267857d1]Harold's[/spoiler:fe267857d1] fate, all I can think is...why...WHY! WHY! WHY!? :wall: :( HONESTLY, what gives them the right to take such a liberty with one of the series most beloved characters! I've been excited for FO3 since I first saw that E3 poster oh so long ago but this is the one thing that Bethesda has done that REALLY rubs me the wrong way, I[spoiler:fe267857d1] mean sure man, I understand that he is a very wise character who deserves a peaceful death because he's so loved but I mean...HAROLD MAN! FUCKING HAROLD! HE IS TURNING INTO A FUCKING TREE!?[/spoiler:fe267857d1] This is like if Obi-Wan would have DIED OF OLD AGE before he could teach Luke how to use the force! being dead actually didn't stop him anyways but I mean, you get my point.

WHY!? :(
