Fallout 3 tidbits

Now that you guys mention the overlays, yeah, I have noticed that the GFW live notifications do seem to give the game some hiccups.

my experience (on the PC) has been fortunate also... maybe 3 crashes in 40+ hours of play. roommate is playing on the same system also, he's only had about 2-3 crashes in 30-40 hours of play.

I did have a start up issue at once time I resolved by making Fallout3.exe Windows 2000 compatible (suggestion I read on another forum).

Everything else seems to be in-game scripting issues for me

No serious problems in 30+ hours (PC Vista 64b -- system in signature).

I did have a flickering problem caused by Vista gadgets (Windows Sidebar) being active -- simply turned off that Vista feature.

Also had a couple "crashes" after leaving the game paused for over an hour -- but not in normal play.

FO3 is meeting my high expectations for it.

Over 50 hours on my review copy and had one crash to desktop. Had one lockup when alt-tabbing, but I alt-tabbed probably a hundred times to jot things down.

I encountered the robot bug in Big Town, which was rectified by reloading and doing it again. I'd imagine this is a script failing to be called or something.. which is certainly a bug, but to call it the buggiest game of the year is rather extreme.

Of course I'd love to live in a perfect world where nothing hit the shelves until it was 100% foolproof, but I don't. That doesn't mean you can't comment on a problem, but you also have to be able to roll with the punches at the same time.

Reloading didn't work for me on the Big Town robots.

I actually reloaded from quite a ways back because my autosave from re-entering Bigtown was overwritten before I discovered the robot wasn't there. So I had to jump to a manual save in a different area then run back. The script may be getting called when you change cells and if you just reload to the same cell it could be at a point after the script was to be initiated.

I'm not sure, I didn't code it.. but that's what it seemed like to me.

On that sales note in the OP, this just came across my desk: http://hollywoodindustry.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=572630

I've had F3 crash 2 times. Both after about 3-5 hours of playing. I'm not seeing any game-breaking bugs.

If this is the buggiest game you've played this year, then you obviously haven't played Stalker Clear Sky.

Would some of you PLEASE stop fucking saying "obviously you haven't played Clear Sky"? BN said that FO3 was the buggiest game he's played all year. The fact that CS is a bug-ridden mess doesn't change his statement, and no, BN hasn't played CS, which he mentioned already.

"Well, [insert game] is buggier!" is not a valid excuse.

If you're going to proclaim a game as being the buggiest of the year you should probably have a bigger sample. Also, go fuck yourself.

I take it you didn't play Clear Sky?

So far the biggest issue I'm having is lock ups. The thing isn't tasking my machine it just freezes up every now and then for no apparent reason. I have to summon the task manager to kill the process. Alt + Tab is also broken. The only way I can get this thing to run for more than an hour is by running it in a window.

Oh well, Left 4 Dead demo today. Hoo-ray.

maybe is your PC because i played Clear Sky to the end and no problem at all...

and for Fallout 3 for now the only crash i cross was the exit crash..

sorry for my english

Well, at least STALKER CS gets its patches allright and quickly. We'll still need to see how FOO fares in this matter.

It's been flawless on my 360, but anything that fixes bugs for people who do have a problem is fine by me.

Also +1 on Clear Sky being the buggiest game of the year. Seriously, there's no series on the market that better illustrates a bitter divide between intention and execution than the Stalker series.

The original STALKER is just fine, and doesn't have too many bugs. CS has patch 1.5 released, and should be fine by now as well. I'm not even talking about the amount of fan-mods made for the game. Could probably beat Oblivion.

I've had a couple crashes on my 360. nothing near the ungodly ammount Saint's Row 2 did though.

Some times my guy's head blacks out during the hair cut thing.

Biggest glitchfuck I've seen so far was near Oaisis where my vision was impared by a nevef endiing streams of purple and greay giant pixel slates on multiple angles while fighting 3 SMs. IT was just all this crap if I looked north. south was fine. north was just a bunch of shit in the air.
