Fallout 3 to be censored in Germany

Eurogamer.de reports that PR man Sam Brace (representing Bethesda for PR agency Lunch) stated at the LGC that the level of violence in Fallout 3 will have to be lowered in the German release. Says German person Lexx:
It still isn't clear how much will be cut out, but shooting heads and body parts off will definitely NOT be possible. The explanation for this was to make the age classification easier for the USK and to not risk indexing of the game (which would mean that it is not allowed to advertise the game in the media).
More information is said to be coming shortly.

I think there was actually BM in the german version of Fallout 1 & 2. And that was stripped of any other deaths than people falling over without blood as well.
So, there is no reason not to leave a complete useless perk stay in the game this time.

Actually Bloody Mess is a perk this time, and it adds to your damage, so there is more sense to leave it in Fallout 3 than in the original Fallout games, where it would have been a useless trait.

What the hell... that is like cutting out VATS entirely...

I wonder how many days will pass until someone makes a patch that adds the removed blood and gore back.

Lets first see, if the austria version will be censored too. If not, then it can be imported and the censorship was absolutly useless. :)

Yeah fuck you role-play device, you got pwned.

Were I to buy this game, which I don't think I could live with myself if I did... I'd actually prefer a version toned down on the ridiculous amount of violence Fallacy-out 3 has to offer. I would get bored really fast blowing some random npc's head all to shit and gone with a pop gun because I used VATs.

Note the word OFF. You can target the body parts but you can't shoot them off. Meaning legs want fall off when you shoot a guy with critical hit from a normal pistol.

Hmmmm, maybe that's not so bad. Those animations are so unrealistic and idiotic that I would support that kind of censorship. Explosive should do blast an enemy to pieces and probably minigun but normal guns shouldn't be able to do that. Just my opinion.

Yes but that only happens if you've got the bloody mess perk. If you don't have it, then legs won't be blown off; like in one of the videos, one raider's arm was crippled and he held his left arm with his right arm, it didn't fall off.

Well, good thing there's still the underlying bedrock of solid pen and paper RPG gameplay and not just a thin veneer of uber-violence and swear words slapped on top of Oblivion.

I kid.

You can blow off the body parts also without the blody mess perk, but it wouldn't happen that often, I think.

Yes it could still happen some of the times. But with the BM perk it happens nearly every time.

I won't be using that perk, though maybe on my 3rd run through or so I'd use it.

Well it took about a week for a de-censorship patch for The Witcher to come out and that didn't even have a fanbase dedicated to previous games so I guess about half an hour.

This is just so stupid & pathetic... Censor-policy of Germany has a sweet scent of DDR in it.

I'm surprised that anyone who cares would buy the german version. A german gamer I know just imports every game, thus completely circumventing the censorship.
