I wonder if it'll look at my save game and retro-activly give me the trophies I would have earned, or if I'll have to start a new game entirely.

Nope, the way it works requires you to start a new game.

I love how you can get many of the trophies simple by completing the main quest. I always thought they were supposed to be a challenge to get, or at least something not given automatically.

^ Achievements have not been a challange since GoW...

DMC4 is about the only recent game where they were hard.

I wouldn't know then. I only know achievements from TF2. Looking through them, I really don't feel as though they are as fun and challenging as TF2s achievements.

Props to Beth for coming through for the PS3.

Yeah, that's some good RPG-ing there.

All hail the munchkins!
I agree with the first statement and don't see any value added by trophies/achievements but what's muchkiny about it? It doesn't make your character any better from my understanding.

Yes, trophies do not affect character, but they affect players. Shifting them away from the whole 'role-playing' idea.

To illustrate my point, I propose 52nd trophy

The epic uberness trophy
(aka "the biggest pennis trophy"):
Collect more platinum trophies than this other guy.

Not really. They don't get any DLC, that's a big slap in the face for PS3 owners, and there are quite a bit of angry PS3 fans on Bethesda's board right now.

Well that certainly makes up for the shallow character development, the clunky combat, the horrible story, and the wooden animations.

Acheivements shouldn't be for just playing the game. Like the "Killed 300 people". Feh. Let's have an acheivement for killing 300 people with your bare fists naked or something.

I don't mind trophies, as they give me something a little extra to shoot for when I'm getting bored with a game.

Wouldn't it be more fun to just play another game than to do some mindless repetitive task?
