Fallout 3 will be set on the US east coast, says Desslock

Well, the article actually says that "we can logically surmise that Fallout 3 won't be isometric" so it's not completely definite. It will probably not be isometric judging by the "We will approach it just as we did Oblivion" and "isometric games is not what we do best" Bethesda quotes, but the article itself doesn't give any solid info regarding it definitely not being isometric.

If they say it won't be 2D isometric, logic demands that there are 3 possibilities:

1. It will be 2D but not isometric, and thus they're insane and logic is not logic at all :twisted: ;

2. It won't be 2D isometric because it will be 3D isometric, and this is perfect IMO;

3. It won't be isometric at all, but a shiny 3D shit for X-Box* user kids, and they're really looking for a fight with us;

*Nothing against X-Box, just an example (and I don't wanna screw PS2 :P )

I thought Fallout 3 was, according to the released design docs, set more central than east coast. There was mention of the Salt Lake City area. Or did all that get scrapped? I also read something about NCR expanding east into Utah.
That was Van Buren and all of it was scrapped when BIS went down.
It always hurt so much hearing that :( What a great game it would be :(

yes i agree with number 2 (3D isometric) would be great too!

number 3 - Oh please NO!...lol

and ofcourse - turn based combat is a must...

I was quite happy with the graphics, inventory and play style options of tactics...(not with the story line and linear quests though!) if they could use that and then turn it into something as popular as F1 and F2...

If you were out for a walk and you noticed a Fallout-shaped turd on the sidewalk, would you pick it up, rush home and jam it into your PC hoping for some magical new Fallout experience? Or would you recognise it for the steaming pile that it is.

If you looked closer and noticed the words "ISOMETRIC" and "TURN BASED" written on the side of the Fallout-shaped turd, would that tempt you to risk fouling your computer just in case it was something special after all?

Moral: It doesn't matter what mechanics or features Bethesda use in Fallout 3, if you take it home you'd better be prepared for the stench when you crack open the box!

Aren't you taking this "personal" against Bethesda? Hell, if they use mechanics and features that honor the franchise name and make a good history, there's no sense in flaming Bethesda just for being Bethesda. Yeah, I know BethSoft lied a lot before, and there's little hope of a perfect, unscathed FO3, but if this dream turns real, then rejoice!

Do you honestly believe there is even a remote possibility that Bethesda could create a good FO3? A while ago I thought it was possible, but then I delved further into what Bethesda is about and what kind of games they produce. I'm sure they'll create a passable action/adventure type game that is similar to Oblivion with a FO-esque setting, but it won't be a CRPG in the true style of Fallout.

My opinion is that this game won't be any good, especially not compared to a potentially well written CRPG based FO3. I don't think Bethesda have it in them to make a good CRPG, and if they decide to include some of the mechanics (Iso, turned-based etc) then it will just be Oblivion with a different look and feel. You're right about Bethesda lying a lot and they've done nothing to earn my trust to this point, so how could I not have a negative opinion of them? And if you think I flamed them then you obviously haven't been reading many of the other posts here at NMA. What I said was tame in comparison.

I personally still don't have a clue about what they are exactly doing. Sure, I can take educated guesses, but they'll still just remain guesses and nothing else.
I honestly don't know since we barely have any information about who's on the team, let alone about how they're developing the game.

They're... uh... developing the game... um... real... uh... great. They're... developing it real great.
